Should Barack Obama Apologize to Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad?

February 5, 2009 RSS Feed Print

Last week, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad demanded an apology from President Obama for past "crimes" the United States has committed against Iran. "Those who speak of change must apologize to the Iranian people and try to repair their past crimes," Ahmadinejad said. According to a recent report by Rasmussen, 11 percent of Americans agree, while 73 percent oppose an apology. Should President Obama apologize to Ahmadinejad? If so, what would such an apology accomplish? Post your thoughts.

Mike of MA is an idiot. The persian empire is the ONLY, I say it again, the ONLY empire that never forced it's own ideas on people. Cyrus the great freed over 100,000 slaves in babylon and let them pray to their own god and he respected people. Stop being an ignorant cnn watching american. IT's this ignorance that makes you look stupid all over the world. You are a joke as a country, don't you get it?? And now your own so called freedom of enterprise has gotten you bankrupt as a country. Even to romans thought they had it figured out and look what happend to them.

Do not talk about persian culture cause you dont' know DIKK.

It was islam that came by the way of sword. Religion is a cancerous tumor on this planet.

To make an apology from one country to another country IS a big deal. A word "sorry" is easy to say, but the meaning of it or the meaning behind it is unpredictable. Should Obama apologize to Iran, US citizen make the best vote than others do, because you guys know the history and the truth.

Please allow me to ask this question. Is an "Appolgy" too small to get all US citizen involved?

And to examine every US citizen's conscience, do you find guilty on treating Iran? Obama has demonstrated that leadership as President of the Unite States. In his inargural speech, he also shared his concerns about the political situation and the worsening, he is also very much aware of this situation and said he will do his best. However, he never forgot to stick to his belief as he stated in his inaugural speech--"For as much as government can do and must do, it is ultimately the faith and determination of the American people upon which this nation relies."

Faith and determination of the American People. Since Obama has drawn attention to the iportance of involving people and with the conern for peopel rather than control. Why don't let the People to make this decision for him at this time?

Attitude decides everything. Sincerity makes the progress on relationship. Typical sample--Japan’s Apologies to China. How Chinese people perceive it? How International peopel perceive Let the realities speak for itself.
