Burris Wants Respect and Power. Blagojevich Just Wants a Deal

I don't think there is anything wrong with Burris wanting or rather taking the Senate seat. He's a person like everyone else and he saw an open door and walked through it. It doesn't have anything to do with race or anything. It's human nature really I think. Now the whole Blagojevich thing going on...all I have to say is that people make choices and choices have consequences. He's gonna have to pay for his choice like everyone else...human nature...once again.

I dont believe that Burris is necessarely the right person to be the next Senator. I beleive that race probably had a little bit to do with this one because the only 2 people that he offered the job to were both black. They wanted to keep that seat in the senate for another African Ameriacan since it was once Obamas seat. Now having said that I dont think that Burris isnt worthy of the job either. He has some good credentials but there were so many other people that could have been appointed. Also a few weeks before taking the job Burris said that Blagojevich should not even be allowed to assing the next Senator. He should step down and either have an election for it or have the next Govenor assign the position. So if Burris is going to say things like that he should have turned it down. But like the article says he saw it as a way to fill the blank spot on his personal monument.

I believe that Roland Burris has a credential background, but the whole Senate thing is very fishy. He was quoted saying that Blogojevich's schemes reprehensible. Then he was quoted saying that he claimed the Senate seat. Like I said I do believe that Burris has a very good past, but he is turning to corruption to get his seat. This is not proven yet, but I hope its sorted out soon so the controversy is laid to rest.

In response to the whole Obama/Black/Bush thing...

I do believe some of the things John is saying, like Bush really didnt do anything wrong, our country is full of shop-aholics with NO money to shop with, and our youths are not properly informed about a lot of issues facing this country; such as the presidency. From a first-hand experience I have witnessed people wearing Obama shirts and when I went up to one particular person and asked "Can you name a couple of Obama's policies?". She responded saying "IDK Im just rockin' his clothes cuz he duh first black president..." Now I did not go up to every single person wearing an Obama shirt and ask his question, but I do feel that a lot of people at my school, atleast, are uneducated on important social issues.

David Holliday of IL 5:53PM January 13, 2009

Bush is not the sole reason for our economy being bad. The United States was in debt and had corruption way before and will have after Bush's presidency. And our corruption is not due to Bush's decision to make nuclear weapons. What if you were the president and some foreign country bombed the U.S. and you knew they had nuclear weapons??...You wouldnt just go over there and try to fight because they will over-power you with their weapons. And I do believe you wouldn't just sit there and do nothing, would you?NO! The only thing that Bush did wrong with the war is he did not take troops out fast enough. Other than that I don't find anything wrong with what he did. And WE are a big issue why our country is in trillions of dollars of debt. We have people walking around with thinking they can buy whatever they want with no money and not pay it off. And we have millions of lazy people applying for government assistance and food stamps. Get off your butts and get a job!!!!! The government should not pay the price for mistakes we make.

Yes, I am a proud white American and no i did not vote fore Bush and I did not vote for Obama.

John Hamman of TX 5:28PM January 13, 2009

Yes, it was a bad choice to make. Maybe it was a waste of time, as some people like to think of it as. But, in all actuality, it was not because if there had been weapons of mass destruction we'd all probably be dead right now. So, thank God that we took the time to check and see if there was any weapons or not.

Now, in response to the Burris_Blago Situation...I think this is silly. People need to stop bringing this *RACE* thing into the picture, but it isn't JUST ABOUT RACE/COLOR of the SKIN!!! There are so many other factors that come into play besides the persons race. It DOES NOT MATTER if you are black or white, or asian, or hispanic. If you are a good leader and you have the qualifications then you should be able to take the spot of someone who was either less qualified or whatever it may come out to be.

Blago knows exactly what he did...I am sick of these politicians saying they don't know what they did, when they know exactly what the hell they did. All of these excuses do not help anything.

Bobby of IL 2:25PM January 13, 2009

No meagan d our economy is bad because we elected a president bush who corrupted the economy with his failing plan to find weapons of mass destruction which majorly effected the economy because of the extreme expenses spent on a war that resulted in nothing found

IsaiahW of IL 2:22PM January 13, 2009

First of all Barack Obamas whole theme was change. He stands for a positive difference in Americans lives. It is ignorant to think that he was elected for the reason of "being black".I have never seen anything in the American government given to someone for being black. However, I have seen examples of biasness in corporate America where whites get handed positions for just being white. Barack Obama was the best person for office and that is why he got the position. Remember white people voted for him too This country is majority white. I guess u would think Bush was a good president huh, because he's not black Someone who starts wars and unauthoritatively search for another countrys weapons.

John Hamman you fail.
