Gallup asked American adults what their favorite sport was. Baseball may be the American pastime, but it hasn't been the most popular sport since the late 1960s.

1. Football (41 percent mentioned it)

2. Baseball (10 percent)

3. Basketball (9 percent)

4. Ice Hockey (4 percent)

t-5. Soccer (3 percent)

t-5. Auto Racing (3 percent)

Of course Hockey is more popular. How many American cities have hockey teams? City supports ( media supports ) NASCAR you pick your favorite team.driver and follow him. No local media outlets will spend nightly news on just driver. Hence how Hockey is more popular among fans

Where Gallup conducted their survey matters a lot in the breakdown of this list. I am no NASCAR fan, but auto racing is way too low on this. Below hockey? Please!Sc
