The worst infamy is FDR's legacy of big government and government dependency that we have never been able to shake.

FDR did a magnificent job for our nation even though he was stuck between our unprepared nation having downsized our military, a pacifist sector eliminating any preemptive strikes, poor intelligence, a huge area of activity and commanders unaccustomed to preparedness and deterrence. FDR was in factstuck behind an eight ball for years knowing the threat was growing yet unable to act agressively to twart. The attack on Pearl Harbor must've been both a blessing and a tragedy for him since he had his shackles removed to act yet faced an awesome task. As the war would eventually take his life, he knew perfectly this was his last hurrah and performed admirably. May America let no President become stuck behind an eight ball again!!!

Many people tend to forget that this publication United States News warned the American People of impending attack from Japan. US News warned of possible hostilities in the Pacific. Warnings were posted regularly during a two year period. A warning was placed in the magazine's "Tommorow Newsletter" explaining that "we don't know who will fire the first shot" This warning was placed in your magazine the week of Pearl Harbor. The next week if you opened the cover the magazine exclaimed "We Told You So!". While the other two popular newsweeklies warned about Germany, It was US News that reported the true news about Imperial Japan. Why don't you go into your archives and do a story about how you came to this conclusion.

What is the magic of the Kennedy name in NY? A 70-year old bridge famously known as the Triborough gets renamed after a carpetbagger. Now, we need another Kennedy?

What we need are competent people who can work extremely hard to solve the severe crises that threaten this republic. She shows none of those qualities.

All great speakers - Churchill, Roosevelt, Dr. King, Abraham Lincoln, ever Adolph Hitler - had the knack of using words that would be remembered. "Ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country". These words forever will be in history books, much as Roosevelt's "Day of Infamy" will be. Do the words make the man? No, but they certainly identify him.
