  • 33 million: Number of people worldwide currently living with HIV
  • 2.5 million: Number of new HIV infections in 2007
  • 2.1 million: People killed by AIDS in 2007
  • 1 in 20: HIV rate in the District of Columbia, the same as the overall rate in sub-Saharan Africa
  • 4 percent: Current share of the HIV/AIDS U.S. domestic funding devoted to prevention
