Both Riccardo Ehrman, the Berlin correspondent of the ANSA news agency, and German tabloid reporter Peter Brinkmann clammed to have asked when the regulations would come into force. Although, I have read that Tom Brokaw asked the question I doubt the veracity of this. From the youtube videos I have seen it sounds like a German speaker asked the question.

oh my gosh i have to do an essay to and i have to know how to find the effects. My theies question is "how did the rise and fall of the berlin wall effect the cold war" and I can't find any relation!!!! ughhhh

So the writer thinks that the wall on Israel’s border to keep out suicide bombers (which has been unequivocally successful) and the "wall" (it's actually more of a fence) protecting our border from illegal immigrants coming from Mexico (another success whereever they've put it up) are no different than the Berlin Wall?
How can such asinine ruminations be acceptable in a major paper? It's like comparing a seatbelt to a straightjacket or a helmet to an iron maiden, a condom to an enema.
And then the author, apparently completely blinded by his own self-righteousness, aborts from history Ronald Reagan and US policy as the root cause of the Soviet Unions demise and instead gives the accolades the author’s pin-up idol, the dour, witless and cowardly Gorbachev. This nimrod doesn’t even for posterity sake mention the most memorable speech about the Berlin Wall the dramatic “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!” And the crowd roared!
Pitiful and ignorant- no one in their right mind should by this revisionist fiction masking itself as legitimate history.

What a lovely article to illustrate the irrepressible nature of the human spirit, individually and collectively. Walls have been built from prehistoric times to the present to either keep people in or out but any such structures, even symbolically, that do not contend with man's desire to actualize himself, have and will fail.
