Many aspects of the article I can agree with. It became apparent to me that America had a leadership crisis as far back as our days in Viet-Nam. The military attempted to train individuals to be effective leaders in a very limited amount of time. I'm not sure what criteria the military used in selecting individuals for leadership. The fact was there were leaders but many were not in the position of authority. It has been, in my opinion, down hill ever since the Viet-Nam era. Schools across America were hiring individuals with the "coach" mentality as principals and superintendents. It seems obvious now that the "coach" style of leading is ineffective beyond the sports arenas. It isn't a style that is healthy for our schools, business or our government. It seems, that even though individuals can be taught to lead, it would be more beneficial to train people who have particular qualities which have been proven to be desirable and found in effective leaders of the past. Leading is a service of sacrifice of self to guide others to a higher level, not to self serve. The reward is to see others attain higher goals.

Your piece on 'Big Man' leadership dissolves into yet another Bush criticism. You can't at least tie the conclusion into the initial argument? I hope you didn't waste much time creating this, I'd like my time spent reading it back.

TRUE LEADERSHIP 12-4-08

TRUE LEADERSHIP IS GIVEN WITH THE MIND AND HEART WITH GOD LOOKING TO SPIRITUALITY, IF THE WORLD IS NOT OF SPIRITUALITY YOU MUST GET THEIR FOCUS ON SPIRITUALITY, THE SPIRIT OF GOD IS SIMPLE FOR ALL TO UNDERSTAND. A TRUE LEADER IS UNDEERSTOOD BY ALL PEOPLE. TRUE LEADERSHIP MUST KNOW WITH GOD EVERYTHING THAT WILL BE EVER NEEDED WILL BE GIVEN AND GOD IS THE COMFORTING UNDERSTANDING ALL LOOK TO KNOW; WILL ALWAYS GIVE VISION NOT ONLY TO THE LEADER BUT TO THE PEOPLE THAT KNOW TO LEAD WITH THE LEADER, FOR WITH THAT LEADERSHIP ALL PEOPLE KNOW THERE IS EQUAVILANCE WITH EACH AND EVERY PERSON THAT LOOKS AND LIVE IN THAT SPIRITUALITY. REASON MEANING WHERE EVER THE PEOPLE MAY GO THEY ARE ABLE TO LEAD AS A LEADER WITHOUT LEADERSHIP FROM ANOTHER LTRUE LEADERSHIP UNDERSTAND THAT ALL PEOPLE ARE CAPABLE TO BE GIVEN WHAT IS NEED FOR ALL PEOPLE IN A WHOLE THE NEEDED BLESSING TO BETTER OUR FAMILY OF GOD. A TRUE LEADER MAKES SURE THAT ALL PEOPLE ARE IN THAT RELATIONSHIP OF GOD WITH COMFORT AND KNOW THERE IS ONLY PROSPERITY AND PEACE, LOOKING TO JUST LIVING AND NOT LEADING AT ALL. MEANING A TRUE LEADER ALWAYS KNOWS EVERY WAY THEY LEAD IS TO GROW TO NEVER EVER HAVE TO LEAD AGAIN!!!

America does have a leadership crisis. It's what's gotten us into the mess we're in now. Don't confuse leadership with management.

Attila the Hun and Mother Theresa's leadership abilities have more in common than the actions they're both known for. Leadership is one thing. What you use that leadership to do is another.

I expect more from an educated person than this. Rewrite and maybe we can discuss a C.

Typical college professor PC talk. No basis or fact offered just his opinion...after all he is a Harvard professor and beyond analysis or criticism. I'll take George Washington, Lincoln, Harry Truman and others anytime to a touchy feely leader. In times where boldness is needed we will develop a consensus leadership...I think not. Can't place the blame in times when it is needed. A failed leader can be discarded but an entire group cannot. Witness our current Congress..we should get rid of most of them but they hide in the group and are hard to identify.

We now have a pro-abortion president, A president who believes that the mantra of "choice" even pertains to infanticide - He may lead, but can never unite. Roughly half the nation understands that "choice" is simply double speak for murder in the womb for the sake of convenience after irresponsible sex. One irresponsible act, leading to another that results in the death of an innocent human being. There is no way to put a happy face on that, notwithstanding the glassy eyed, swaying masses of chanting Obamatrons.

This rift in our people - this scar of abortion on the face of our nation will never be healed... There can never be a compromise with this evil...

Holding hands and singing Kum By Ya doesn't change the abomination of abortion into something " warm and fuzzy". Some of us will never let you forget that - Not ever...
