Surely, Obama is the only one who can give candid answer to this question. Even his own stauch suppoters could not beleive Barack Obama could win the nomination leave alone presidency, but he said "YES WE CAN"

I feel that the Americans did the right thing by electing Mr. Obama. It is time for a change and everybody knows it.

YES WE CAN!

You have omitted a couple of factors that contributed to the Republican loss. The selfishness of the "millenials" - pitted against the WWII era seniors & their "boomers" over social security.Appealing to their cowardice as well "millenials" have no intention of ever risking their lives for their country ,they voted in droves for

Obama .Secondly, the double cross by Obama with regard to public funds that enabled him to flood the airwaves with ads.

What created the economic crisis? We did. All of us did. Greed overcame common sense.

What created the environment for him to win? 8 years of failed government.

Who allowed him to win? A new generation.

So, don't stand in the way. When you realize that everything changes, there is nothing that you want to hold on to.

Time for Reid, Pelosi, McCain, Byrd, Kennedy, Frank, McConnell, and all the others to go. Time for a new generation to take the lead and responsibility. Good luck and be wise. Me, I'm taking a few days off.

I am not sure many of us will live to see George Bush, probably the most maligned President since Abraham Lincoln, vindicated by History, but I am certain he will be.

1) George Bush did not create the economic crisis. It started its way down with Bill Clinton and the Democrats who passed legialtion making loans available to people who did not qualify for them. Now those same people failed on their loans and the spiral escalated. This is a global problem, and not one that you can lay blame on one man. 2) This country went to war with the support of the majority of it's elected officials and the populace. The decisions were made based on the intelligence available at the time. Anyone who disagrees with our taking out Sadam Hussein is an idiot and needs to open their eyes. Might well be worth a trip to the library and some research into World War II and that little fellow with the strange mustache in Nazi Germany. No-win, It looks to every rational person that we are winning. 3) Blaming Bush for the Stock markets crash makes about as much sense as blaming the destruction caused by Hurricane Katrina on him (you forgot about that one). Face it, many small minded people never forgave George Bush for winning over that nit wit Al Gore in 2000. He has been vilified ever since he took office. Well America, we wanted change, we now have it. Lets see what we do with it. We need to do now, what we as a people never did in the last 8 years. Support our President and move on. The election is over -thank God! And we all better remember how to pray to God again.

In a perverse way I want to thank George W. Bush for bringing to fruition Barrack Obama's presidency. Thank you, George, for mishandling the economy, Getting us in a no-win war with invisible weapons of mass destruction, and making the stock market go belly up. wihtout your help, and the help of your firends, this could not had happen. You will go down in history right along side Hoover and Friends.

The RNC has been doing a lot over the past several years to cripple itself. It still claim thats limited government (and limited spending) is a cornerstone principle of the party however the elected representatives has not been showing this value in their actions. The copius numbers of House and Senate Republican names that were approved the bailout bill illustrates this. That they did this as McCain was starting to fall in the polls hurt the party even more.

Voters were offered the choice between the Big Government party with a social interest core and the Big Government party with the moral interest core. Between those two choices, what did the voters pick? There was the block of Dems that were solidy behind Obama, and the block of Repubs that were solidly behind McCain.

For the rest of us, it was either....vote for the one you like a litte bit better or conversely, vote against the one that you think is the greater evil. For a charismatic candidate against the backdrop of a hugely unpopular administration, the RNC helped set the stage for Obama to do very well.

demagoguery, pandering for votes, ignorance of the history behind the financial crisis.and a short memory, also why was necessary to have the highest level of voter registration fraud in our history. any one who bought in to his theory of change will see only the faces change, " the more things change, the more the remain the same." you can not change direction, and go any where. Washington will keep its pocket book intact......

Alan L Boles of FL 2:40PM November 06, 2008

Everyone needs to remember that we just elected a President of the country, not a dictator. The president can't pass laws and can't authorize spending. Only congress can do that.

And only about 5% of the incumbents in both the house and senate lost their seats (some open seats alos changed parties).

So the next congress is still very similar to the current one. And their approval rating was lower than Bush's. So the direction of the country will not change as much as everyone thinks it will.

Bob of TX 1:51PM November 06, 2008

I believe it was Washington Irving who said, "There is a certain relief in change - Even if it be from bad to worse."

I think our nation is about to experience that first hand.

You know, I think there's a lot be said for the wisdom of the Knickerbacher School of writers - (Just had to throw that arcane comment in...)
