These tactics (or are they a strategy?), especially since they were used against McCain in 2000, and are 80% fiction are a sad statement on a pathetic man and his desperate campaign.

Our great country is more torn than ever by the smearing and unbridled hate mongering.

Ed Rollins, the boob, compared Colin Powell's influence to Joe the Plumbers'! One is fact, one is fiction. Why are these people clinging to myths and stories when there are several factchecking organizations available online?

Count up all the pinoccio points in the GOP column! (see Factcheck.org.)

John McCain needs to forcibly wrestle the keys away from a drunk Mrs. Joe Six Pack before our whole country is crippled by a car wreck (a possible Palin presidency). McCain would like us to believe that Obama's brief relationship with Ayers shows lack of judgment, how about his idiotic choice of VP?

Jeri of MA 1:13PM October 20, 2008

Mccain's campaign is, however.

It is so obvious and frankly sad that John McCain has stooped to the level he has and become someone even democrats once respected,to this desperate man willing to malign, exaggerate and even lie to try to win.Its as though he felt automatically entitled to win the presidency and how dare this upstart spoil his plans.Even Colin Powell stated that this kind of campaign was wrong and helped him make his choice. McCain has shot himself in the foot. Also, his choice of Palin, has obviously been condemned by leaders of his own party and once the public got to know her better, they also, were not impressed. It bothers me that the republicans wish to divide our country with such hateful rhetoric, even when they are finding, the public DOES NOT like it.We must stand together as one America to solve our problems, so Sen.McCain, if you really mean, "country First" prove it, stop the hate campaign!

I am waiting to see the spin the Republican's are going to put on Powell's well reasoned endorsement of Obama. If Powell (a hero, hawk, Secretary of State under Bush, General, life long republican and personal friend of John McCain, etc)isn't worried about Bill Ayers and Rev. Wright doesn't that tell you something? Are they going to call Powell a reverse racist now or say that he's only voting for Obama because he's black too? If the republicans believe that, what does it say to their judgement in making Powell Secretary of State, etc? Is another smear campaign now about to start against Powell? McCain offers me no tax cut. I can't afford his health insurance proposals, he has no concrete plans to cut this country's addiction to carbon based fuels except "drill baby drill." What happens when the oil is gone? McCain talks about cutting all spending programs. Do you have any idea what that would entail and if it could even be passed? Sounds impressive, but it could never pass the senate. Do you really believe federal monies to schools, hospitals, medicaid, Veterans affairs, foreign aid, road repair monies, formula and milk money for babies, food for children, literacy programs, etc can all be stopped without a problem? Sure there are many bad programs, but cutting all is sending the baby down the drain with the bathwater. McCain is grasping at straws in desperation for something people will think is audacious, even if ill conceived and impossible to accomplish. McCain has been reacting first and thinking later throughout this whole campaign. McCain says a timetable to pull out of Iraq would bring our boys home losers. Isn't that what is going on now? We have to be mostly out of Iraq by next year and totally out by 2011. Is McCain that stupid and out of touch that he doesn't know what is being negotiated now by his own republican president? The questions about Ayers, Wright and Acorn have been asked by McCain and answered by Obama. America has made it judgement based on those answers. By avoiding the issues and continuing to point fingers, McCain just looks like a two faced whiney crybaby old man with an airhead ex-beauty queen at his side. What a sad end to what should have been a righteous public career. I am ashamed of John McCain and ashamed of what the republican party has become by resorting to such tactics when the real problems facing this country are what's important. Robo calls? Obama could be harping on the Keating 5, Troopergate, McCain's collaboration with the VC after 4 days (read McCain's memoirs, it's all there in his words)and McCain's failure to release his medical history, yet his campaign isn't. That speaks more to Obama's integrity and shows McCain for the desperate self-serving washed up party hack he is.

Barack Obama is clearly unqualified to be President of the United States. Bill and Hillary Clinton were right about that. I am sure they both wish that he would loose so that she can run again in four years. They will probably vote for John McCain.

Obama is a sleezeball running a sleezy campaign, and people are too stupid to see it.

Obama's performance again bested the ole' codger. Get a few drinks in McC and he lightens up, but it is hard to take anything McGrimace says anymore, even when he's trying to creak a joke.

It was good to see both candidates take a break and show some stand-up comedy skills. The unexpected comic relief clearly took the tensions down a couple notches if not for just one night.

Unfortunately, McC is back to his dirty tricks - with these sleazy robocalls. McC just does not have an ounce of integrity or honor left.

It is time we move past the sleazy Karl Rove/Lee Atwater Republican dirty tricks and throw the Republican bums out.

John McCain and other corrupt Republicans caused the savings and loan crash in the early 1990's and now McCain is part of the Republican Culture of Corruption responsible for the current crash. They are now running a disgustingly negative campaign throwing all the mud they can. This is dangerous for our country because it brings out the crazy people seen at recent McCain-Palin rallies.

John McCain is confused, erratic, showing signs of dementia, is not looking healthy, likely to have his melanoma cancer return and is mindlessly spouting lies from his sleazy, dishonest campaign. John McCain has been in lockstep with George W Bush over 90% of the time. Another four years of Bush policies would totally destroy our country and that is what we would get with John McCain. If you believe John McCain's recent campaign lies that suddenly he would be different, then I have a Bridge to Nowhere to sell you.

Sarah Palin is clearly unqualified to be President, is a religious fundamentalist extremist who would take away a women's right to choose and would create an American Taliban reversing all the gains in civil rights. For the sake of our country, we must make sure that Barack Obama is elected President.

Having said that, Obama as President would be smart to have some moderate Republicans on his team because we are all Americans and need to work together in bipartisan fashion to solve our problems.
