Hi,Alaska residents each get a yearly check for about $2,000 from oil revenues, plus an additional $1,200 pushed through by Palin last year to take advantage of rising oil prices. Any sympathy the governor of Alaska expresses for folks in the lower 48 who are suffering from high gas prices or can't afford to heat their homes is strictly crocodile tear. your health care, your child's education, the competitiveness and security of our nation? Sarah, I would love to have a beer with you, but as far as leading this country I want a designated driver in the White House moving this country in the right direction!!. Palin and her Grand Old Party do not represent the “Joe Six Packs” of the country, nor do they represent a “maverick” change in policy from the Bush administration, as much as they would like us to believe.McCain with his hot-head temper and erratic behavior isn't much more stately. These two are hardly the model of what America should be striving for as far as higher educational and cultural standards. Why is it that the more educated/metropolitan states vote Democrat and know how to communicate? Sometimes it is hard being tolerant of less educated people who can only construct sentences like Emmy of MA.

If she would be willing to represent Joe 12 pack, I might vote for her. 6 pack? She must hate binge drinkers.

What is wrong with the right pandering to J6Pack? Doesn't it just serve to help level the playing field?

The use of the term "Joe Six Pack" to refer to the common middle class American is derrogatory. Palin doesn't realize what she's saying, as if most middle class American's were a bunch of uneducated beer drinkers. Palin's phrase is insensitive and reflects that she is indeed a "Joe Six Pack type" as far as her own mentality. McCain with his hot-head temper and erratic behavior isn't much more stately. These two are hardly the model of what America should be striving for as far as higher educational and cultural standards.

...does anyone else understand the context of "Joe Six Pack"? Alcoholism is a serious issue...and this shows her lack of understanding what the label, Six Pack, entails. If someone is drinking six beers a night...I think they have a drinking problem. Is Palin so out of touch that she has no clue as to the implication of this label? I wonder at her lack of sensitivity...to this issue and many others. Just a thought. Are we all so inured to the six pack life style and its repercussions that we cannot even hear her and what she endorses? One drink, or two...but six?

That Joe six pack comment is such a lame attempt at hoping to be identified with the average american, does she think people are that stupid to fall into the trap? Just like when she brings her handicapped child on stage at the rep. convention, basicaly using him to gain sympathy votes, that is disgusting to use you own child as a platform for political purposes, and in this case using a disabled one makes it even worse. Shame on her.

Sarah Palin is no “Joe Six Pack”. Joe Six Pack does not live in Alaska and does not benefit from the special financial bonuses Alaskans enjoy. In his September 9, 2008 piece, “Sarah Palin's Alaskonomics” in Time Magazine, (just one of many U.S. publications Palin might recall from her studies in journalism), columnist Michael Kinsley wrote: “Of the 50 states, Alaska ranks No. 1 in taxes per resident and No. 1 in spending per resident. Its tax burden per resident is 2 1/2 times the national average; its spending, more than double. The trick is that Alaska's government spends money on its own citizens and taxes the rest of us to pay for it… Alaska is, in essence, an adjunct member of OPEC. It has four different taxes on oil, which produce more than 89% of the state's unrestricted revenue. On average, three-quarters of the value of a barrel of oil is taken by the state government before that oil is permitted to leave the state. Alaska residents each get a yearly check for about $2,000 from oil revenues, plus an additional $1,200 pushed through by Palin last year to take advantage of rising oil prices. Any sympathy the governor of Alaska expresses for folks in the lower 48 who are suffering from high gas prices or can't afford to heat their homes is strictly crocodile tears…

So don’t be fooled by all the “you betchas” and “doggone its” and “Say it ain't so, Joes”. Palin and her Grand Old Party do not represent the “Joe Six Packs” of the country, nor do they represent a “maverick” change in policy from the Bush administration, as much as they would like us to believe.
