Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac have "gotten too big and too expensive to the taxpayers."

Sarah Palin comments on the U.S. takeover of the mortgage giants at a campaign rally. McClatchy noted, however, that the companies "aren't taxpayer funded but operate as private companies."
