The only thing that could have been as bad as the election of George Bush would have been the election of Joe Leiberman as Vice President. How sad, how very, very sad to see this man glow in the limelight of his own shameful and egocentric behavior. He is the ultimate..... disgraceful politician. He is the ultimate sinful personality..... more slimy than pond scum.

I also would like to add that I think Ms. Palin should be at home with that newborn. The first two years are the most critical for a baby.

Also McCain says she has PTA experience. Was he joking?

So many qualified candidates and he picks her. He is a 72 year old man who is playing a joke on all of us.

My husband would be a great pick for McCain.. He is vice-president of our 77 unit condo in Florida and treasurer of the entire POA of over 1000 units. He HAD a contracting/development company, but because of the economy, he is currently unemployed and available. He was born in Ohio so he could carry that state. We have several friends who were POWs so he has foregn affairs covered. He is head usher at our church.

I doubt that the school Palin was on PTA had 77 students in a town of 6500. PaLin may be pro-choice, but she is certainly not pro-family? I agree with the others who think she should be raising her 5 children.

We elected Bush because he was a fun guy to have a beer with. Do we really want to go from that to a woman whose biggest qualilfications include a mother of five? She grew up in Alaska and hunts, she has no big city ( Detroit, Cleveland, Miami, Washington,DC) knowledge of what guns do when it is humans being hunted. I am very scared by her.

McCain also scares me because he shoots from the hip without thinking. We don't need another war or two.

I have grave concerns as I read my local paper and. the editor is praising the pick. then the AM question about the pick is also answered Favorably. Am I the only one in our area who can see how Sen McCain is using us? And that he has picked Gov. Palin solely for female votes and oil rights? Oh dear This scares me.. That people are actually thrilled to elect a VP who has a BS in Journalism.. My daughter has more education. Before we jump on Obama's experience I want to add two things. First of all, he has a Law Degree from Harvard and secondly, he was Not picked for the job by one person. He was elected by the system this country uses... Granted she brings some things to the table but Get real!!! Also I am very upset with her that she has even considered accepting with the issues in her own home.. If she is really the devoted mother as presented , why is she leaving a 4-month old child with a handicap? We have such a child in our family and I know what that entails and I also want to offer that my nephew would Never be exploited as this poor child has been. In closing I also am extremely frightened of what the outcome of this election may bring as It appears to me that Sen. McCain gets a little bit TOO excited whenever we talk of "going to war". I really appreciate you allowing me to vent my feelings. Candy Wilon, Ohio

Hey... The republicans & democrats finally agree on something. They think Palin is a good choice as VP and so do I. The difference is I think it is great choice for us. Thanks from the Democrats for this pick and the election. We would have won anyway...but we appreciate the help with the Palin pick. Watching you spin the VP choice as great is pretty amusing.

RJ of FL 1:31PM August 31, 2008

I am a liberal democrat and even I know that Palin needs to stay home and nurture her children, especially her young 4 month old with Downs Syndrome, and also the siblings who are adjusting - Where is the outcry from the stay at home Republican Mom's? I can't believe that anti-abortion folks will be happy with just that - anti abortion- what about taking care of the children? Thank you for thinking about this.

This will make you think. If not, keep your blinders on...

George Bush has been in office for 7-1/2 years.

The first six the economy was fine.

1)Consumer confidence was good

2)Regular gasoline sold for around 2.19 per gallon

3)The unemployment rate was 4.5%

4)The DOW JONES hit a record high of 14,000 +

5)Americans were buying new cars, taking cruises, living large

But Americans wanted change.

So, in 2006 they voted in a Democratic congress & yep

We got CHANGE alright.

In the past year and half

1)consumer confidence has plummeted

2)Gas is 3.60 + per gallon

3)Unemployment is up to 5.7%

4)Americans' home equity has dropped by 12 trillion dollars

5)The DOW JONES is on a downward slide at around 12,500

6)2.5 trillion dollars has evaporated from their investment portfolios

Yep, in 2006 Americans voted for CHANGE. And we sure got it!!

Now, Obama, the Democratic nominee for president says he's really gonna give us CHANGE!! How much more CHANGE do you think we can stand before America is brought to it's knees???

Could it be that after seeing the Democratic Convention that even John McCain thinks Obama should be our next president? Or is it that McCain thinks women are still too stupid to understand the comlex nature of politics and therefore would be more able to identify with a bimbo cheerleader? Seriously--what are her qualifications? I am a hardcore liberal, but I have a lot of respect for the known, and tried women in the Republican party. Why would McCain pass them over? Too intelligent, or powerful? I have to admit that as disgusted as I am by his choice, I am thrilled, because it just proves the point that the party and the candidate are out of touch and are on the verge of helping my party win--again!!! This is a visceral response to today's events. but I really feel offended by his choice. I hope that we as voters, regardless of our political affiliation, see through this as pandering and vote accordingly. Please think about it and discuss it with those you feel can join you with an open mind. Our country is is serious trouble financially, politically, morally, ecologically and globally.

This is quite possibly one of the most elections in our history. We know what's been offered to us in the past, and McCain thinks that's just fine. Let's change that and make a political difference.

Good luck to us all.

I am a veteran of a foreign war, and while I commend John McCain for his service, and I regret his capture and imprisonment as a soldier, there is one thing about this that most people overlook. No one...NO ONE can be held captive and routinely tourtured for 5 years without accumulating massive psychological damage. No one lives through that without it screwing them up somehow.
