Obama's a Hit With Low-Income Voters
A new poll from the Washington Post shows Barack Obama leading John McCain by a 58-to-28 percent margin among low-income voters. Liberal bloggers smugly point out that this finding defies predictions and expectations about Obama's ability to attract those voters, particularly working-class whites. One liberal, though, says it's nothing to write home about.
A "Pocket"-ful of Criticisms About Obama's Latest Ad
Obama released an ad today whose message is that McCain is in the pocket of Big Oil, his first negative commercial that was not in response to a McCain charge. Conservatives are already countering the claims in the ad: On CNN, Mitt Romney called Obama "dishonest" and said the ad was "below the belt." Liberals think it's about time Obama fought back against McCain's negative campaign.
Republicans Inflate Tire Gauge Joke
Conservative bloggers are having fun with Obama's suggestion that people keep their tires inflated in order to improve gas mileage, as is the GOP. McCain's campaign manager has even promised a tire gauge to people who donate $25 or more, to the shock and horror of liberal bloggers, who are trying to figure out what's so funny.
GOP Congressmen Refuse Recess
After Congress adjourned on Friday without passing any energy legislation, some GOP lawmakers are refusing to leave the floor and just delivered a letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi requesting she call Congress back into session. Conservative bloggers praise the Republicans and bash Democrats for trying to cravenly "escape Washington."
