Public Opinion: Should the United States Permit Offshore Drilling for Oil?

Proponents say that it will help prices but critics say it would harm the environment

July 30, 2008 RSS Feed Print

President Bush Tuesday continued pressing members of Congress to lift its ban on offshore drilling for oil. Bush and his allies argue that it will increase domestic production and eventually lower prices. Opponents, mostly Democrats, argue that it would have no effect in the immediate term and could be environmentally ruinous. Should the United States allow offshore drilling? I would like to see how long these people that are saying no drilling would last without A/C and heat, and GOD forbid no fuel for their cars. I know there is somethings that need more attention in keeping BP and the others in line with all the regulations, and I'm sure the right people will see that they do what needs to be done. Drilling will keep lots of people employed, and our economy will flow as it should. Some people are fast to tell what should be done, but they really need to stop and think about how the out come would be. It is very important that we keep our drilling home. Everything has it's problems, we are going through some crises with the drilling but I'm sure things are going to better in the future.I pray that President Obama will lift the ban on our drilling and everything will be better. Last but not least I would like to say how sad I am to the families that lost their love ones. My heart and prayers are with you. There is nothing that can be said or done to take away the pains you are going through. God says in Matthew 11:28-30 I will give you rest, and in 1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your cares on ME, Only GOD can heal the pains. I will continue to Pray peace and forgiveness in their lives. GOD bless all who reads this.

Yes we should allow off shore drilling, I am sick and tired of hearing from those enviormentalists saying its not good for the enviorment. What is good for it? They sure don't know, for all we know it could be a natural process ruining the enviorment, which I believe it is. Throughout history, there have been ice ages, floods, earthquacks, and natural disasters, and it not going to stop. As far as Obama goes, he doesn't have the sense to be president, and never will, he scares the hell out of me. The man is not what he appears to be, he is hiding his true nature and I can see that when he speaks in riddles, and by his known associates of the past. He has a very hidden agenda, and I don't want to see that agenda, nor would any other American.
