Was it me or was it evident that McCain could not look Obama in the eye when talking to him.

Despite all that was said on stage McCains general stance at the podium made me...an African American. Very uncomfortable.

FYI...I am a one issue conservative (abortion) who will now vote for Obama in November.

Maria Montessi wrote that four- and five-year-old children learn to read spontaneously if they get enough practice printing alphabet letters. No one has previously ever tested the idea, but she was right, and this is the key to preventing reading problems. For an article with proof, email Bob at rovarose@aol.com

Neither of these two were supposed to be flip-floppers. Each held a high reputation for integrity. Each has now damaged that reputation. It simply is not possible to take their actions and statements in any way other than the old American principle of "say anything to get in."

As a long time Hoosier, who has been active in Democratic politics for over 40 years, I don't think Ms. Borger has a clue about the antipathy toward Evan Bayh among many Indiana Democratic activists. A lot of us have watched Evan's star rise while he has done nothing to elevate other Democrats in Indiana. If Obama thinks that picking Evan would bring him Indiana, he's mistaken. He would do a lot better with Biden, but he still probably won't carry Indiana, but he would likely win the election, which is what really matters.

Personally, I'd love to see McSame pick Gov. Jindal. To pick a guy who has a biology degree but doesn't accept evolution and who lives in the 21st century and participates in exorcisms would be my dream. Of course, McSame could pick Romney, who as a Mormon believes in celestial marriage, so there you go.

Dear Mrs. Borger I know you have did your home work on Mr. Obama ie. Like reading his books an listen to the things he says we as Americans aren't stupid but i see you are moving more to the middle on Senator Obama and can you please talk to Mrs. Sanchez and ask her why she hates Senator Obama

I'm old and out of touch with reality. I have a 1950's "bunker" mentality and people tend to think that I'm a jerk. I flip-flop on the issues and have a political philosophy much like a socialist. I am really not that different from my opponent Barack Obama; who is also a socialist. I have a problem controlling my anger; which is a bad thing for someone who is running for president. I really have no agenda except to keep the war in Iraq going for another 100 years and to make my rich friends even wealthier. I know that Ron Paul is right on every issue, but I can't say that because it would be admitting that I am wrong. I really hate the idea of small government and following the constitution because that is what Ron Paul talks about and I wish I were as smart as he is. I can not possibly win against Obama because I am not popular like he is and no one wants to give me money. I am going to get my clock cleaned by Obama; a guy who speaks well but says nothing. Then again, I don't have much to say myself so maybe I should listen to Ron Paul more often. I know that it is too late now to change the way I am, so I'm just going to run my "campain of fear" and hope that I can scare people into voting for me. That is really all you can do when you are John McCain!

John McCain of AZ 3:30PM July 06, 2008

Are republicans so stupid that thay cant even tell when somebody is lying to them?McCain is so rehearsed it's making me sick."my friends". Even the pitch in his voice is phoney. And just look who's sitting in the whitehouse now.The biggest phoney of them all George w. Bush. Cant you blind republicans see that his only goal for the rest of his term is to destroy this country even more.He is detirmined to put us in a war with Iran before he leaves office just to stir up more trouble. Why is he still in office? If this devil is liked this much, then there is'nt much hope for any of us.Mc.Mcain?just a puppet.

Gloria, I've enjoyed watching you on CNN. I would point out that the media has a bad case of what is Obama's problem this week- itis.

It seems every week for months the media has obsessed over Obama being too much this, too much that and how he is hurting himself. He is too liberal, not liberal enough. too black, too white. Too elitist or too naive.

Every week it is something else you in the media complains or hyperventilates over about Obama.

But, you never talk about how with all this 'conventional wisdom' Obama has turn that cw upside down and made the press look foolish on a regular basis.

What will be next week's 'Obama has a problem with...' I think we can make a game out it and guess what the coming week's hand wringing will be over.

And yet, Obama has managed to defy the media every time. Winning in the white states, securing the black vote though for a long time it was 'can he get whites to vote for him and is he black enough'

And he beat the Clinton machine when she was inevitable.

How about the media take a break and let Obama be Obama

Both of these men are senators. They can take extreme positions. They have just one vote among many. So they can often just hide in their extreme positions and it won't affect much. A President however must look more closely at the consequence of his action. His vote is VERY significant. Therefore when the elected President suddenly sits the seat of decision the world takes on a new dynamic. Not so easy to be President. Suddenly those idealistic notions become tempered by the real world. The candidate that is against drilling will suddenly realize he has an economy in the tank and guess who they will blame: HIM! Now the pressure is on. Now he becomes more responsible. Responsibility is like a swift kick in the butt. It may just change your position!
