Public Opinion: Whom Should Obama Select as a Running Mate?

If I owned a company and was looking for an individual to manage my organization I would be wise to select an individual with a background to fit my organization.

Even one of the amendments in the constitution writes about the presidential nominee being known by the people and this is why they have to have lived in the USA for 14 years. It is important that voters do their background work on each candidate before voting.

Hillary & Bil should not be considered for vp. They ran a very ugly campaign; waiting for their opponent's demise; or for something bad to happen to him; even suggesting harm; the mountains of lies and deceit; the ones that really bothers me is the kitchen sink strategy and her consistent bid for the nomination when all the numbers were against her - she basically misled her supporters; while encouraging them to donate money to her failing campaign; how dishonest:

Obama is fresh air in comparison to GB and McCain. How can any woman except his wife vote for him; he does not support progressive women's issues; he will continue to send our sons & daughters off to Iraq. McCain represents the past and old policies that have created many national and international problems. Hillary and Bill also represent the past and ugly reminders of their days in arkansas and washington; monica, travelgate, bosnia, troopergate, racist comments during the campaign, whitewater, mr. foster and the list goes on including the constant whining & crying when the numbers turned against them. No presidential candidate need this kind of luggage.

In balancing all things considered, it would be my suggestion to select Wesely Clark. It would be an obvious decision to somewhat balance J. McCains military spins and might quiet some of the protestors who choose military over practical

issues such as economy, health care. unemployment.

everyone keeps saying that Obama has no experience, Bush ruined our country for 8yrs, Obama can do no worse. Obama gives our children hope. We never could tell them they could be president now we can. Just because McCain has experience and is 30yrs older than Obama that doesn't mean that he would be better, he will continue Bush's damage. I think Obama is for all people and the country should stop having so much hatred in their hearts over black people. All blacks are not the same. We may be different on the outside but God made us the same on the inside. I pray for all people who are racist. Our country is in the worse shape every we all need to come together and vote for change.

PARTY HAS GIVEN ME NO OTHER OPTION.I ALWAYS VOTE SO I CANNOTJUST SIT IT OUT AND NOT VOTE.I WILL VOTE FOR A PERSON THAT HAS A RECORD IN THE SENATE. MCCAIN HAS EXPERIENCE AND HAS CROSSED PARTY LINES.I THINK OF HIM AS A MODERATE REPUBLICAN.OBAMA HAS TOO MUCH BAGGAGE FROM HIS ASSOCIATES AND LONG TIME FRIENDS.I DON'T TRUST HIM.WHY WON'T HE GO TO THE TOWN HALL MEETINGS?I BELIEVE INEXPERIENCE AND HIS ABILITY TO ANSWER QUESTIONS FROM THE PUBLIC SCARE HIM.HE HAS ALWAYS PREFERRED ANSWERING QUESTIONS THAT HE HAS TIME TO PREPARE FOR.IF YOU ARE A DEMOCRAT AND SAY THAT YOU WON'T VOTE FOR OBAMA,YOU'RE CONSIDERED A RACIST.I'M CHANGING MY PARTY AFFILIATION BECAUSE OF THIS ELLECTION.I AM RELIGIOUS,HAVE A GUN PERMIT AND LIVE IN A RURAL AREA.I DON'T LIKE THE KKK,I BELIEVE MORE WHITES HAVE AIDS THAN DO BLACKS AND DO NOT CONSIDER MYSELF A REDNECK.I LIVE IN A UNIVERSITY TOWN AND I AM AN EDUCATED PERSON.THE DNC DECIDED TO GIVE US OBAMA AND THEY FEEL WE WILL VOTE FOR THIS MAN.I HAVE MANY FRIENDS AND FAMILY IN MANY STATES WHO FEEL AS I DO.IT SADDENED ME TO HEAR THAT MOST PEOPLE DON'T THINK H. CLINTON SHOULD BE VP.THIS WHITE AMERICAN VETERAN VOTED FOR HER IN THE PRIMARY.SHE HAS EXPERIENCE AND HAS SHOWN ALL OF US THAT SHE IS A STRONG WOMAN AND WOULD BE A STRONG LEADER.I HAVE HEARD OBAMA'S SPEACHES AND THE CHANGE HE MENTIONS IS OBVIOUS EACH TIME HE HAS TO EXPLAIN ANYTHING.THE MORE TIMES HE ASKED THE MORE HIS ANSWERS CHANGE!I FEEL HE HAS GOTTEN A FREE RIDE ON ALL OF THE NEGATIVE THINGS THAT HAVE COME OUT ABOUT HIM AND HIS LONG TIME FRIENDSHIPS WITH RADICAL PEOPLE.YES THE PEOPLE YOU CALL FRIENDS FOR YEARS DO MATTER.YOU ARE ONLY FRIENDS WITH ANY PERSON BECAUSE YOU HAVE SOMETHING IN COMMON.THERE ARE STILL JUST TOO MANY UNANSWERED QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS MAN.

We are living an era where people concern more about what can bring more excitements on their lives than substances that may produce positive effects on their future. Those who hold the microphone, pen and keyboard, x only on Obama.

There are two political parties in this country, I need to hear at least some of John McCain's commentaries from the same source or at least from another source.

There is only one party that people can comment without fears. Is that democracy ?

We have to be careful because if we do not have balance of power in this country, we may end up becoming a nation like Somalia or Sudan, or Zimbabwe. I understand what has happened during the past eight years, however, I need to know if I can vote for John McCain or not.

Jean Marie Philemon of GA 3:06PM June 12, 2008

Bill Richardson would make an excellent VP choice for Obama, He brings great foreign policy credentials, and the potential of many Hispanic voters. And from what I saw when Richardson endorsed Obama, they seem to have good chemistry.

B. Morten of FL 8:38PM June 11, 2008

If people want an end to Bush's disastrous foreign and economic policies, they will vote for Obama regardless of whether or not he was their first choice for the Democratic nominee. Hillary is not an option for the vice presidential spot due to the way she ran her campaign and due to all the baggage that she and her husband carry. I can only imagine McCain's campaign ads and debate performances..."your own vice president even said I was better qualified, all you did was give a speech," "Hillary doesn't think you're ready for the 3 AM phone call and neither do I," etc... Obama would always have to watch his back with her as vice president (she's sticking around just in case he's assassinated). Plus the scandals, how quickly we forget the scandals of the 90's (aka right wing conspiracy) --Travelgate, Whitewater, impeachment trials, Pardongate, etc... to name a few. Hillary has too high of negatives with independents and she is viewed by a majority of Americans as dishonest (remember the sniper fire?) Yes she was the first choice of many Democrats, but she brings nothing to the general election
