In this Friday, Jan. 31, 2014 photo, the body of boxer Christopher Rivera is propped up on a staged boxing ring during his wake in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Rivera was memorialized at his wake standing up in the makeshift boxing ring set up at a community center. Police said he was shot on Jan. 26. No one has been arrested. Marin Funeral Home Vice President Elsie Rodriguez said that it took them several hours to create the scene. She said Rivera had told his relatives that if he died, he wanted his boxing career acknowledged at his funeral. (AP Photo/Ricardo Arduengo)

To the delight of Cubans, U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon toured the colonial old quarter last week, stopping in a barber shop to get a haircut. Ban and leaders from Latin America and the Caribbean were in Havana for a meeting of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States. In Puerto Rico, mourners who attended the wake of slain boxer Christopher Rivera found his body posed standing in a simulated boxing ring, a yellow hood on his head, sunglasses over his eyes and blue boxing gloves on his hands. A Brazilian dump truck smashed into a pedestrian bridge on a busy highway in northern Rio de Janeiro, collapsing the walkway on three cars and a motorcycle and killing four people. Two Central American nations wrapped up campaigning for Sunday's presidential elections, with voters in Costa Rica deciding whether to oust a long-governing party and voters in El Salvador choosing whether to put one back in power.
