BEIJING (AP) — Two lawyers with knowledge of the murder case against the wife of disgraced Chinese politician Bo Xilai say she has agreed to be defended by two government-appointed lawyers in her murder case. Her decision could be the latest sign that a resolution to her case is near.
Gu Kailai is charged with a British businessman's murder in Chongquing, where her husband, Bo Xilai, had been Communist Party boss. But her trial is to be far away in Anhui province.
A lawyer close to the case says Gu and her family accepted the court appointments of lawyers Jiang Min and Zhou Yuhao. A second lawyer confirms Jiang would represent Gu but did not know the other attorney's name. They spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the case.
