BAUCHI, Nigeria (AP) — Officials say there was an explosion at a beer garden in Nigeria's northeast that wounded nine people.
Bauchi state police chief Mohammed Ladan said an improvised explosive device went off late Sunday in the city of Bauchi.
Nigerian Red Cross official Adamu Abubakar said a three-month-old baby is among the wounded.
The blast came two days after an explosion went off near a popular nightclub in the capital Abuja, but left no one hurt.
The attacks come amid growing violence blamed on a radical Islamist sect in Africa's most populous nation.
The sect known as Boko Haram wants Islamic Shariah law— which opposes the consumption of alcohol— imposed across Nigeria, a nation of Muslims and Christians.
A trio of beer garden attacks last year killed 25 people in the sect's spiritual home of Maiduguri.
