QUITO, Ecuador (AP) — Ecuadorean authorities say a bus has toppled over a cliff on a northern road, killing 27 adults and two children.
National Traffic Agency director Mauricio Pena announced the death toll at a news conference Sunday and said the driver was among those killed. He says an additional 27 people are injured.
Police Capt. Fernanda Albuja says the bus ran off the road near the town of Quajara.
Red Cross official Diego Castellanos is blaming speeding for the accident.
