There is no better system when it comes to relief natural disaster works. Simply, the point is to safe lives and no time for a debate for the opinionated.

Katrina, Category 3, Gulf Coast, 2005:

Confirmed Dead: 1,836

Missing: ~700

Why? They didn't leave, even though the Federal Government warned the state and local governments to evacuate and offered help. Mayor Ray Nagin's fleet of school buses remained parked and were under water. By the way, he's the one who said 10,000 died and that survivors were raping and cannibalizing each other inside the Superdome. This was reported as truth. It was manifestly false. Yet our vaunted News Media fell all over themselves awarding Emmys for storytelling and repeating false rumors.

Those that did eventually evacuate were given places to live and food and water. As far as I know, none died in Houston due to starvation or exposure.

A TV show about Mississippi's gulf coast showed that 3,400 houses erased from the land. In all that damage, a total of 238 Mississippians died. That number is part of the 1,836, not in addition to. Mississippians had better sense to leave. New Orleanians didn't. And while Katrina did not directly hit New Orleans, it directly slammed into Mississippi, causing much more direct damage.

The US Coast Guard and the American Military did the most outstanding job ever not reported. It was their finest hour and we discount them because it doesn't fit the "incompetent government" meme.

Category 3 Cyclone hits Burma, 2008:

Estimated dead: 77,738 (likely to rise)

Missing: 55,917 (many if not most assumed dead)

Why? They were not told to leave, even though the Burmese government was warned by the US Hurricane warning center. And if they had been told to leave, how would they? On foot?

1.5 million to 2.5 million survivors are in desperate need of food, water, shelter, and medical care. (Many will die of disease and exposure.)

"Lack of clean water will be deadly in the Irrawaddy Delta, Thomas Gurtner, the head of operations for the International Red Cross, told the Associated Press in Geneva.

"To be able to provide clean water to hundreds of thousands of people stranded in the delta requires a major operation, which we have neither the material, the logistical, nor the staff capacity to do," he said.

The US military flew four more flights of emergency supplies into Rangoon yesterday, raising its total to 17 since Monday."

And who comes to their aid even against the wishes of their miserable government? The US Military…again.

If I have to face disaster, I want the US Military coming to help me. There is nothing better in war or peace.

In response to his numerous critics - who in the main offered direct answers to his questions re: US response while simulataneously undermining his thesis - Stan comes up with 370 words and says... nothing. Good job, Stan.

Haysoos Marimba, stan, how much slapping can you take in one day? I salute you for your fortitude, if not your intelligence in trying to create a controversy for which you were woefully unprepared.
