All good ideas, but the current ANNUAL deficit is $1.6 trillion. We need at least $16 trillion over ten years to keep from going into more debt.

Cut government by 10%--cut government wages 10%----all new hires 25% less pay--no raises until deficit is 0. All travel and expenses paid by the state they represent. Eliminate NLRB, dept of education, commerce and interior--let the states run their own.No unions in government jobs, all government workers pay into social security and medicare. All pay at least 25% on retirement and healthcare. If Buffet and the rich want to pay more, raise capitol gains tax to 35% on gains over 1 million. Military coming back from foreign countries should be put on the border and military engineering can build the fence. No monies to other countries until the deficit is 0. Eliminate Obamacare. Raise the age for social security and medicare for people under 50--1 month a year for up to 24 years. People pay into social security and medicare up to $300,000. Interest and tax deductions on homes for the first $500,000. Families who gross under 60,000 gross get to deduct payments for health insurance.

If the communists get their way, nothing will be done to correct our economic woes.

To the contrary, they will stay the course, over the cliff, with the pedal to the metal adhereing to historically failed ideologies and proven, misguided Keynesian economic doctrine vis centralised government micromanaging (hello Soviet Union) industry and commerce via cronyism (hi pal thanks for the campaign contributions) and taxing people/business's that do work to support people and schemes that don't ...

Hiring people to work in (high pay and benefits) Government jobs that produce/create nothing to the financial detriment of taxpayers who do produce/create products for commerce will, as history has proved and to which we are witnessing now in Europe will put everyone in the proverbial cave !

So, comrade, that is something to contemplate as you pack up your OWS tent..

If the Tea Party and the Libertarians like Ron Paul had their way, we'd all be living in caves again. These cuts acknowledge the Tea Party's lack of cognitive thought. This statement coming from myself, a registered Republican.

I agree. The legislators don't listen to what the people say. When you contact them they are polite and tell you they will use their best judgment when they vote on issues. Is that what we're paying them for? I thought they were supposed to act on their constituents desires.

Repeal Dodd-Frank and abolish the SEC- they are completely worthless and corrupt.

Uh notice that Medicare and Social Security are not on the list? Old people are just as self-centered as any other age cohort.

The US accounts for 45% of GLOBAL defense spending. It is about twice the % of GDP as it is for other developed countries and all they can put up is duplicative spending.

Those who decry socialism wouldn't know it if it hit you on the head.

Freedomworks is a sham.

VR,

Are we better educated due to the Department of

Education and their interference with local schools?

The statistics say otherwise. Do we no longer have homeless people on the streets and do we

have success in HUD sponsored housing? Johnsons Guns and Butter program generated hundreds of billions of dollars to "improve" housing

and hundreds of billions have been wasted in this

program with the primary beneficiaries the tax credit buyers and sellers based on over ten years of experience in this field. I am surprised the Department of Energy did not make the top ten. It was put in place by Jimmie Carter and has been a total failure in achieving energy independence. The goal has been even further pushed back by the actions of the current Administration to prevent using our own resources to provide us

energy independence and hundreds of thousands of jobs that we sorely need. Socialism does not work, never has, never will and until we get the Socialist out of Congress and the White house the country will not prosper. For the last 75 years we have been moving toward Socialism at a rapid pace. Thank God for the Tea Party and those who finally have had enough of the tax and spend proponents who are out to destroy this country and everyone who believes in the principles this country was founded on. We do not have a tax revenue problem at the Federal level in this country, we have and out of control spending problem and those of us who actually pay our taxes in the middle class have had enough of the Washington dance. We will keep sending new folks to Washington until we get this country turned around and focused on responsiblity, individual freedoms, and tax revenue for essential services only. No more free handouts and promoting of dependence on the Government to buy the re-election of those in Washington who have lost touch with reality.

I like seeing the questions here because the list above has me asking my own. I use to be SO VERY ANTI OBAMA CARE just because the hubby watched/listened to so much far right conservative stuff. Glenn Beck, Laura Ingraham, Mark Levin, Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity... setting it on station in my car and on the tv. What man doesn't control the remote? Sean Hannity especially had a big influence on my political thinking. Maybe cause we watched/heard him the most? BUT! I got to where I couldn't stomach any of it anymore. The yelling, screaming, and flapping of arms. So emotional. SO MANIPULATIVE!!! Now days I am trying to feel nothing and think and scrutinize carefully. I am dismissive of emotionally manipulative arguments. I dismiss religious arguments. (Though raise fundemental, independant, KJV only, Baptist) Morality is about ideas taken on in FAITH and is a very individual & personal choice where in law/ethics is about logic, fairness, and equality. Morality is in the heart and law is in the head.

Yes I agree why do you want to Eliminate the Dept of ED? I see a list of cuts with out ANY backing reasons or arguments. JUST... LETS SAVE MONEY! Be concise, use logic, list reasons. Make and defend your case. DO NOT include matters of the heart as we are all free to pick and choose those supposedly. NO emotional manipulations. Stop spewing easy vague phrases. Oh they sound good and pluck my heart but after I cool off and in the end they just insult my intelligence.

I'm tired of hearing Obama, Reid and Pelosi lie about conservatives not having a plan to fix our economy. Here it is, budget cuts that would bring spending back into line with revenue. We can live within our means by cutting spending. Add to this a permanent extension of our current tax rates to remove uncertainty and our economy will begin to grow again.
