"I ask, Sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people. To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them."

The fact is, the ATT (Arms Trade Treaty) contains absolutely no language whatsoever limiting the rights of US citizens to keep and bear arms. The treaty limits the export and sale of arms to countries whose leaders show a "substantial risk" of using the guns against civilians in their own countries. This is a new kind of irrational for the NRA. It seems they fear that any limit on small arms anywhere on earth is a violation of the 2nd amendment.

Bob Deal says the second amendment is "obsolete" And calls people who believe that "rational". Bob..... you have a big surprise coming real soon to your own doorstep, and it will be to late for you to change your mind. China will not be alone when this happens.

Rich of OR 1:35AM February 09, 2012

Any rational literate person would understand the purpose and logic of the second amendment. It is obsolete and has been since we established a standing Army. It was necessary to keep us ready for invasion at the time when we did not have a standing full-time Army. It was not written to allow our citizen the right to have guns so that they could defend themselves against the government. What a stretch! Why do hunters need assault weapons? Where is the sport of hunting? We teach our young kids how to shoot AK 47s and think we are so right. How dumb can we get, we may never know.

Bob Deal of TN 9:10AM February 07, 2012

the article says the treaty would 'slap America's gun owners with severe restrictions' but totally neglects to say what these 'severe' restrictions are. this is crappy reporting with an agenda rather than an honest attempt to inform. would these 'severe restrictions' prohibit people with a record of armed assault from getting guns? in that case, i'm for the 'severe restrictions'.

i think that leaving this pertinent info out proves the author needs to get some integrity and let the reader decide if they feel the restrictions are too severe.

Treason.

Truthsayer of WA 9:52AM December 01, 2011

This is NOT about arms control, its about the intentional subordination of the constitutionally protected rights of citizens to a foreign entity. The traitors perpetrating this on us don't believe that our rights are granted by God not the government and that they in govt have the right to subvert them to govt authority.

Domestic Enemies and Foreign Enemies are the same thing except one bunch lives here and lies about their intentions.

Treason is how its defined.

Why do we give so much credence to the stinking U.N.?

The U.N. is a collection of dictators, despots, spies, and thieves. We need to get out of the U.N., stop bank rolling them, and boot their sorry a$$es to Europe. Let those cultured, P.C. candy as$$es host the U.N. for a while.

Iron Sights of OH 6:57PM November 16, 2011

In our present day situation the proverbial "Japan" is already here running the country.. they are nervous that we remain armed and a threat to their future global success.. hence this illegal treaty.
