Mr.President, stand with your supporters. We need a change from all this greed, which abounds.

when reagan started taxing social security in 1983 for seniors over 65 who were working after 65. in the 40s when I signed up for my social security number I never dreamed that social security would ever be taxed. the cap was never changed for the cost of living. this must be changed as there are too many seniors after 65. this will help the working seniors. as congress does not cover themselves under social security they do not care about working seniors.

The Government ran up the debt, not high income earners. And eventually the tax rate increase will affect every American. This idea that people who make more then 80 or 90k a year is rich is ignorant.

I still believe that if I don't get my ss for Aug. then the people that we elected to represent us in Wasington should be willing to give up there checks for Aug. also.

If you are stupid enough to believe that 46 percent of Americans pay no taxes your watching TOO MUCH FOX NEWS! We all pay taxes and the middle class and poor pay the lions share of the payroll taxes!!! Not only do we pay taxes but we pay a larger portion of our income in taxes than the rich do by far you dumbass!!! Read this and tell me who is getting the breaks in this country!

Currently, some 46% of Americans pay nothing at all yet still receive benefits.

This begs the question: "Since this is an era when many people are concerned about 'fairness' and 'social justice,' what is your 'fair share' of what someone else has worked for?" -- Thomas Sowell

I understand that people feel that the rich are profiting in a huge way while the rest of the country suffers. But by puuting the onus on the rich to pay off the debt is unrealistic and historically will not work. Look up the facts. When taxed at a high level LESS tax is collected than when rates are lower. The rich have avenues to place money so it will not be taxed while you and I don't earn enough to utilize these havens. Furthermore, high tax will hinder the future growth and investment. The only way to tax fairly is an across the board flat tax with no write offs. Until that time the Govt. should foucus more on efficiency than anyting else. Salaries of our government workers should only be raised when the Govt. turns a profit from proper management. This Govt. could reduce expenses across the board on all services 5-10% and we could again visit this issue. But as long as this Govt. is inefficient and wasteful about salaries, perks, pork handouts and aid to foreign govts. we will consistantly find ouselves in the same position again and again.
