NRA Steps up Anti-Kagan Campaign

Kagan was appointed to the Supreme Court AFTER the Heller and Mcdonald rulings, which dealt with outright bans on private handguns in Washington D.C. and Chicago (and even these two cities were more tolerant of ownership of rifles and shotguns). Any future rulings by the Supreme Court involving gun control almost 100-percent certainly will deal with forms of gun control that are LESS EXTREME than a handgun ban.

Whatever the merits of Mr. Bedard's thoughts on the NRA, a basic fourth grade grammar and spelling lesson is in order. "It's" is a contraction for It is. Its, no apostrophe, is the possessive pronoun.

The NRA opposes Kagan for good reasons... because she is a liberal who hates the Second Amendment and is doing the same exact thing that Satomayor has done... she lied and mislead the people before the Supreme Court Second Amendment ruling.

No wonder, going around inventing fiction about kagan to try to raise money off blatant lies and fabrications

Go on and stir up the wingnuts. Too bad the NRA doesn't have anything to do with responsible gun ownership anymore and has turned into another special interest group trying to manipulate the looneys.

To CS of NM: The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. What part of that do you not get. Also there are state militias who are required to provide their own equipment to include fire arms. In Ohio it is the Ohio Military Reserve (OMR) for short. They take the place of or supplement the National Guard when there is a need. They are not paid unless the governor calls them out and they drill one day a month. Sounds like a MILITIA to me.

If you include in those last 50 years, Nixon and Watergate, Reagan

and the Iran Contra illegal deal, George Jr. and the search for those

WMD's, by the way have they found those?, and fighting 2 unfunded

wars, and giving an unfunded Social Security increase then you are

right we should be concerned by the failure of the Government in

the past to ignore the Constitution. Where was yOur concern in

the past 8 years?

I'm really concerned for this Country. First, we elect a president, who we know nothing about. Then we let the Left's political agenda go on unfettered. We allowed one anti-gun, socialist on the high court, now we are attempting to allow another! Where are our heads?

We need to start educating the youngsters of this country on the Constitution, and get the PC out of the schools! It's ok to try and undo the damage instilled from the last 50 years of liberal, socialist thinking. Get the next generation back on track. By God, if we don't, the economic and socialist damage will put us in a depression that will make the 30's look like a picnic in the park!

Elena Kagan is qualified. That's what counts. Ask Sen. Graham, who sure doesn't think like Elena Kagan. Sen. Graham and others through the history of Congress have voted "aye" based on qualifications, not on whether the nominee thinks the way the Senator does. Besides, no one knows how she'll vote in any situation--being on the Supreme Court has been opinion-changing for some.

Dear CS of NM: Please check out American history before commenting! Pre-Revolutionary War, the colonies were not protected by the British Army on a day-to-day basis. Each adult male was expected to be a part of a non-military defense force, supplying his own food, weapons, horse, and whatever was necessary to defend the colony from Indians, or French, or both. The militia was never formally recognized as a military unit by the British. Additionally, the SCOTUS has recently ruled that the Second Amendment is an individual right like all the rest. There are NO collective rights here, just folks who got hung up on the wording which was clearly understood two hundred plus years ago! Oh yeah, and what is the National Guard.....
