Gun Maker Browning Takes on Feds

Sarah Palin, who just announced her "Don't Retreat Instead-Reload!" campaign against liberals, could have a partner in Browning, the Utah maker of popular rifles and handguns.

Picking up on American anger with federal spending and the upcoming April 15th tax day, Browning's marketers have come up with an interesting campaign to boost sales while attacking the tax man. While they aren't talking about putting the cross hairs on the IRS, like Palin has done on Democratic districts they are offering a tax kickback in the "Browning Tax Relief" program, as you can see in the package below sent to Whispers.

"Uncle Sam has picked your pocket all year long. Now is the time to take advantage of Browning's Tax Relief offer. Purchase any new Browning firearm at your local Preferred Browning dealer starting April 2, 2010 and through April 18, 2010 and Browning will reimburse you up to 8 percent in U.S. funds for the sales tax," says the Browning E-mail.

For the record, we don't know if Palin uses or owns a Browning but we do know that she's a fan of the little deer gun, the .243, even when caribou hunting.

The Constitution guarantees our right to own Guns. Everyone is aware that guns don't have "Brains", and the guns are just one (and most popular) items used in crime. It is also clear that in spite of the gun controls in effect (and proposed from time to time) the intent is to try to safeguard citizens. It is also obvious that Laws are a waste of time and effort, if they are not enforced.

It is also clear that most of the people we elected, for the past 20 or so years are not interested in doing our bidding, or working for the betterment of the country and it's people. They seem to be more interested in "Playing a political game", in order for their personal gain.

We, the people, have the power to change our legislators, and thereby have no need to resort to "Revolution". Think about it---if we did use guns instead of the ballot---would we keep the same form of government, or change it? If we change it--then to what?

It seems that resorting to violence to change our representatives in government is idiotic if we can do it with the ballot.

Why is it that there was no such talk while President Bush was in power. Is it that the people talking Revolution felt President Bush and the Senators and Representatives were the people they wanted? When it's not who they want--think revolution?? Sounds insane to me.

Our country began with the premise that after an election, whereby the majority vote is accepted by everyone. Anything else leads us to "Guns rule" and then everyone is truly enslaved.

We don't like violence and killing - we do like to be able to protect ourselves, our loved ones and our country. Certainly hope you never need one of us to protect you. We might not have the ammo to spare.

And yep, wo do have the guns.

Dear David

Open your history books and find out who the true patriots are in the US. They are the ones who picked up their weapons and used them against the British to stop tyranny. Our forefathers fought for independence from autocratic rule and excessive taxation.

Now, open your eyes to the government we currently have in the US. We have corrupt politicians (both parties) who no longer represent the wishes of their constituents. We have excessive taxation and a government that is rapidly heading toward bankruptcy due to disdain for fiscal prudence.

The US is heading toward a revolution. Nobody wants bloody conflict. However, history strong suggests that will be the result if changes does not occur. Remember the French revolution?

Don't be so quick to attack the gun makers and owners. Gun owners are generally law obliging and use weapons with great care. Every state that has allowed concealed carry has found crime rates go down. Most gun owners use their weapons for self defense...not to assault others with no cause.

Gun owners are the true patriots and may be forced by a corrupt government to protect the people.
