Is this true? Rumor is that Trump may have him on one the reality shows.

But how does that ever excuse allegedly attempting to shake down a children's hospital???

Here's what the media need to do next, though. The comedy shows need to take this clown and continue to turn him into entertainment (at his expense, of course).

I can see a MAD TV sketch in the works, now. Picture someone posing as Rod trying to shake down a dry cleaner, only he ends up dealing with Ms. Swan. The authorities try to question her, to be sure it was really him, and he really tried to shake her down, and her perpetual answer is simply, "You know--he look like a man."

Gotta love Ms. Swan.

Next, they get Nicole Sullivan, only when the Rod character tries to shake her down at some job she works in, she immediately plugs her ears with her fingers and goes, "I can't hear you. La la la la la. La la la."

Now that would be fun media attention.

I have no love for Blago, but he is right about the media. I have been a communications professional for more than a decade, and I have watched a disturbing change in the media. With newspapers in constant threat of extinction and more and more consumers getting their info on the fly from bloggers, twitterers, and each other, journalism as we know it doesn't stand a chance. Americans love a train wreck, so that's what the media gives us--over and over again. And the race to be the first to put the "news" out there has indeed created the kind of "drive by journalism" that, when push comes to shove, doesn't have time to seek out the truth.

And I have to agree with Anze--it's ironic and a sad statement that the headline of this piece insinuates exactly the opposite of what Blago's quote actually says. I guess you proved his point.

Why listen to reporters when you can just go straight to the actual transcripts?

A huge thumbs up to Fitz for dragging this absolute loser in, finally.

The guy is technically innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, but a lot can be said (and not very nice stuff, either) about a person who allegedly shakes down a children's hospital, of all places.

Thank you, Fitz, for finally busting this guy. Many were stunned that his competitor, a GOP moderate like Judy Baar Topinka, who was a three time state treasurer with an endorsement by the honorable former Illinois governor, Jim Edgar, didn't absolutely trounce him at the polls.

Wise voters knew something was wrong, but apparently, not enough to make up a substantial portion of the electorate.

Had more opened their eyes to the numerous investigative journalism pieces that routinely dissected his dealings, perhaps the travesty might have been avoided.

That said, at least he makes for hilarious "Saturday Night Live" comedy sketch fodder.

Thank you, Fitz, for taking this loser down, finally.

I find it ironic that, as he is protesting the media, this article itself skews the quote and mis-represents what Blagojevich says in order to get a tastier headline.

Screw the truth is right. That's pretty much what Blago said every time he opened his mouth and attempted to convince us that he had done nothing wrong. Instead of coming clean when he had the chance he decided to continue the lie. Instead of standing up for himself before the state legislature he decided to go whine on national media about how things were unfair. Now he wants to throw that same media under the bus? Sounds about right. "Screw the truth" should become Blago's new motto. It fits him.

This guys a fighter, clearly intelligent, and so I would think it's possible he got caught with his pants down and the media ommitted details to make a headline out of perhaps an innoccuous albeit poor decision on Rod's part. Having watched him in interviews I think this is his campaign to save his career. I also believe and buy the media swarmed in like vampire bats, how much they left out is really speculation at this point, and that's unfortunate.

America loves controversy and the media will punish you for the pleasure of those who crave this controversy.

has anyone conducted a comparison and contrast investigation into the parallels and similarities between Blagojevich's 'Screw the Truth' and O.J.'s 'If I did it' ?
