I keep seeing the commercials thanking the Republican party for the different things but they forget to say thanks for giving us Richard Nixon & George Bush and Ronald Reagan's tax increase on the middle &low income poeple of the U. S.

I have never seen a politician or political party plummet so quickly in my life. I lean democrat but, damn boys!, you're going to fast and people don't like it. Anyone who has been pressured by a used car salesman to buy, buy, buy now is seeing Obama as the same type of sleazy salesman. This is why I voted for Hillary; she of all people knows how important it is to sell the plan right and not just jam it down peoples throats. She made that mistake. I thought Obama was going to listen to people.

My husband and I were talking just the other night about politics (we differ on opinions greatly!). We BOTH thought it odd that Presidents, and Govenors have term limits, but those Congressmen and Senators that ONCE lived in the region they represent move to Washington DC, set up house and RARELY go back to the regions they represent. They are completely out of touch with their constiuents. Why do they NOT have term limits? Why will they not put it on a ballot to allow us to vote on term limits? Cause they make a whole lot of money and have a whole lot of power in DC.

We have to make our opinions heard... we have to call and write them. All it takes for this country to go to Hell is for good men and women to sit back and do NOTHING! Pick up the phone, send snail mail, send email, make you voice HEARD! This is regardless of your political views. We need people in DC that represent each view.

Americans know it so why doesn't the staff at abc know it...the minute you fell in love with obama you stopped reporting the truth. you people have not even studied these duty to die bills and still do not know what is going out? why don't you ask me and my friends on your shows so we can report to the American people what is really going to happen to them if these bills are passed? that way you do not have to get the courage to do it but someone will care enough about Americans to tell them the truth. there is not one person left at abc that i admire

The true hypocrites are the Fox news fans that think their lop-sided view is just fine then scream hypocracy when another network, in their opinion, slants the other way. About time a major news network stood up against the true destroyers of america. Obama is informing america without the political rhetoric - it is evident by Steele's letter that their true intent is to make this issue political - it is not.

Heard a good insight recently (sorry I can't remember who said it) The fundamental difference between Liberals and Conservatives is that Conservatives think Liberals are WRONG; and Liberals think Conservatives are EVIL. That's a toxic drink for America that has poisoned our public discourse. It's why Liberals think it's dangerous for the Conservative viewpoint to even be heard. What are they afraid of? In the past, there was a gentleman's agreement (yes, it was mostly men back in the day) that you must show respect and kindness toward your opponent no matter how boneheaded you thought his/her ideas were. Now, it's mud-wrestling 24/7 on TV and Radio. And if some of my Liberal friends want to contend that we Repubs are much meaner, don't forget about Jeanine Garrafalo (sp?) telling Keith Obermann--she wasn't joking--that Conservatives' brains are somehow damaged, not quite as evolved as our enlightened sisters on the Left. In reality, Americans are like one big, rowdy, dysfunctional Irish family who can't agree on anything. But we're all in the American family, and we have to figure out how to talk to each other again without screaming. The nastiness has to stop or we will destroy America from within...

WOW!! I've read numerous posts that relate to the "always was and always will be" war between democrats and republicans and, people, really, you're getting nowhere. You will ALWAYS disagree because if the world didn't have different opinons, we'd still be trying to figure out how to make fire!! The story that sparked this line of interaction is so much bigger than the tiny little battle you have going on between you. I want my news to be news and not some network bully's slant on what the news should be - wether it be ABC or FOX!!! And it's not necessarily a lie just because you don't like what you hear.I want to hear it all. And then i want to use my God given intelligence to figure it out for myself.

Disagreeing with you doesn't mean i'm mean spirited and full of hate. Both parties have liars, cheaters and idiots. And you're lying to yourself if you don't believe so. I don't care about what's been done as much as i care about what's going to be done. And truly... I don't know from one day to the next. I think Obama's trying to make things better, i just don't know how he plans to do that and i don't know if i should believe him just because he is the President of the United States. I don't trust someone just because they were elected to office. All that means is that somehow they managed to get more people to the voting booths. Any idiot can push a button. It doesn't mean that he's doing so with a well informed idea of who he's pushing that button for.

Considering the state that our country is in right now - we cannot afford to let details get lost in the hoopla of poking each other in the eye. Everyone should be terrified when serious changes affecting our economy and our daily lives are being discussed by a group of men (Republican and Democrat alike) who, basically, can't see that UNITED is what makes this country so great... DIVIDED is why we're circling the toilet bowl. When you sit here and knit pick the failures of past and present administations, you waste the knowledge you have and the passion for a better America on people who will NEVER agree with what you're saying just because you say it so eloquently. You cannot sway someone to your side by calling them an idiot. Only an idiot would think so.

Instead, demand more from the media in terms of fact based accounts of the news. Use your passions to hold our elected officials accountable for what they say and what they promise. Don't settle for "We're going to spend $780 billion dollars to stimulate the economy", and not ask how!! We give them soooooo much power and yet, when they fail us, we simply turn on our computers and b*****at each other and never spend a single minute trying to contact any level of our elected officials to express our ourage.

We hold tight to our beliefs because we'd rather die than to open ourselves to the possibility that maybe, just maybe i really don't know what i'm talking about. It's okay to not know... it's a downright disgrace to not try to know.

The comments posted here keep arguing about the republicans or democrats and you are all losing site of reality. This is not about whose team is right or wrong. This is about freedom. Forget the difference between right and left. That is only an illusion created by the establishment to brainwash and distract America into thinking their team is the best.

There is only one team we, the people, are up against.

It's not Left vs. Right.

It's the State vs. YOU!

This article is about THE STATE taking freedom from YOU!

When ABC first announced this special they said that both sides of the argument would be shown. Now they are refusing to show the other side of the argument. ABC is a bunch of hypocritical d-bags.
