Conservatives Hit ABC News for 'Obamamercial'

Whenever I hear people comment on how many people die without national healthcare I wonder if they realize how many will die because of it. National healthcare will not ensure that all sick people are taken care of immediately.

Germany and Canada have shown the time-frame to actually get to a doctor can be lethal to those with a serious illness. The overloaded systems may require a six month wait, even for those with an aggressive illness like cancer. The six months that private health care could be treating the patient are squandered on waiting and ensure the demise of those who might otherwise be saved if allowed to use private medicine.

I understand Germany has actually had to allow private insurance for those who can afford it (hmm sounds familiar) to address such concerns of their population. I understand from a Canadian friend that Canada is also looking at options of tiered coverage to allow for private medicine.

I also read an article last year about Canada having to send pregnant women with serious complications to American hospitals in Washington State because of overload in the system. Canada not only had to pay for the treatments, but in-hospital stays and the women had to leave their families behind.

What will Canada do if they can no longer send their sick here for the coverage they can't provide. Worse yet, what will we do and where will we send our sick?

Unfortunately, we are too quick sometimes to see the flaws in our current system and too slow to see the faults of a quick-fix. Let us learn from other countries mistakes and not have to suffer as they have to come to the conslusion that as imperfect as it may be, our current system of private healthcare does in fact prove to be the best system yet created.

Having marched in 1963 for civil rights and equal rights, I have seen Affirm.Action used

to" Level the playing field" morph into reverse discrimination and preferential treatments

the educational systems& infiltrated with radicals & anti-american progressives who want a

one world order ,global socialistic system that mandates the wealthiest developed nations

SHARE the wealth WITH THE POORER DEVELOPING NATIONS,despite the fact that a Constitutional

Republic allowed for persons from all nations to come here for the chance of a better life

for themselves & families ,freedom of speech & religion ,individual liberties and free enterprise ,capitalism made the U.S. the most prosperous (not perfect but) the leader of

the free world who helped people in foreign lands, fight oppression, fascism, nazism, islamic

extremists, making the ultimate sacrifice too often so others could experience Freedom. Now

elected officials of both parties are tearing apart the Constitution they swore AN OATH to uphold and defend against all enemies, domestic & foreign..Separation of Powers,

ignored ,states rights upsurped by Fed.Govt. and Congress is a willing partner in Spending

Tax dollars ,borrowing more and/or printing more US currency ,FISCAL ABUSE OF CHILDREN .

gOVT. HAS PROVEN ITS INABILITY TO EFFECTIVELY,EFFICIENTLY RUN ANY COMPANY(DMV,AMTRAK,US

post office,Veteran hospitals(experienced first hand the 2nd rate care provided there)

and now Auto companies AND BANKS. I pray enough people in congress will put principle

before party and not cram down Nat'l healthcare instead of working in bi-partisan manner

endorsed by Candidate Obama to improve our healthcare system, starting with TORT REFORM

& WEEDING OUT RAMPANT ABUSE IN mEDICARE & MEDICAID BEFORE gIVING fED.gOVT INCREASED CONTROL AND ROBBING CITIZENS OF MORE of THEIR INCOMES & LIBERTIES & fREEDOMS.Not the

change many of us voted for and definitely don't believe in! NO MORE Spending money we

don't have...can't reduce the "Inherited Debt" by quadrupling it!Voters Remorse!!!

Where do you get your information? Can you direct me to a credible loction where it's posted?

Twenty thousand Americans lose their lives each year due to lack of access to care and an estimated $400 billion of our money is squandered on private insurance administrative costs annually. Our “uniquely American” tribute to big insurance brings with it lethal collateral damage.

should NBC have done the same for their infommercial of Rick Scott....

Mia obviously doesn't even know what the Fairness Doctrine is. Democrate, Republican doesn't matter - anyone in their right mind wouldn't support this madness! If you support the Fairness Doctrine then you OBVIOUSLY support censorship. Hitler, Castro and Stalin used one thing to control the public - and that's the fairness doctrine.

Fairness Doctrine = Censorship

The only folks that want fairness doctrine are one sided, close minded, socialist people who don't want competition. They want to take the voice of the people away. Mia you have no clue what you're doing to the next generations in the US by backing this kind of ideology.

The right or Republican Party has sat around and done nothing while people suffer. Obama is going in the right direction. HOWEVER - it must be a Bi-partisan effort to overhaul healthcare. Additionally the private sector MUST have a voice. Everyone hates bureaucracies. Please do not back ABC's censorship. Michael Moore already distorted people’s thoughts about the matter. In college I learned that "being objective" meant "listening to both sides of the story". We do NOT want to start down the road of the Fairness Doctrine.

ABC is siding with one political position as the only answer to a problem with no intent to give a non biased opinion to the public.

This is nothing more than Propaganda.

Patrick McCain of MS 1:27PM June 18, 2009

It is one thing to have a pundit, commentor, etc...wave the flag of their ideology. it is another to have an entire broadcast news network shilling for which ever party is in the White House. This is a dangerous precedent and one that can only be affected upon by ABC by examining who will advertise during this program and current and future advertisers of ABC World News.

In this economic environment, it worked to shake an apology from D Letterman, it will work to force ABC to admit it is in the pocket of the presidency.

M Zelenz of NY 12:32PM June 18, 2009

Well, I can't say I trust the RNC ads that will run. It will likely be a lot of misinformation. They are the ones who don't want the Fairness Doctrine. So I don't want to hear any complaints from them.

Mia of WI 10:44AM June 18, 2009

what they are doing is the same thing you are, trying to make it appear that there isn't any genuine opposition to this program, only those evil corporations, and that all real people want the government to take over healthcare (along with everything else). Well we dont and we're getting tired of being railroaded.

Something as huge as this deserves honest debate and of course the libs don't want that, in fact it isn't allowed anymore.

I think also that the press types are glad to finally stop pretending to be neutral journalist and come out as they are, which is the liberal propaganda machine. "We are telling you only the truth, which is whatever Obama says it is, anything else is corporate lies that we'll shield you from."
