The E-mail Presidency: Obama's Electronic Stimulus Outreach Plan

The campaign continues as Obama urges supporters to host an "Economic Recovery House Meeting."

Here's a first—the president is E-mailing his list of supporters directly to help him win passage of the $825 billion stimulus plan. "Dear Paul," says his E-mail from the Democratic Party's new group, Organizing for America, "I need your help to spread the word and build support." If you were on the Obama campaign or the Democratic Party's E-mail list, the following note will soon be on its way. And for the rest of you, here it is:

Paul,

The economic crisis is growing more serious every day, and the time for action has come. Last week, the House of Representatives passed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which will jumpstart our economy and put more than 3 million people back to work. I hope to sign the recovery plan into law in the next few weeks. But I need your help to spread the word and build support.

It's not enough for this bill to simply pass Congress. Americans need to know how it will affect their lives—they need to know that help is on the way and that this administration is investing in economic growth and stability. Governor Tim Kaine has agreed to record a video outlining the recovery plan and answering questions about what it means for your community. You can submit your questions online and then invite your friends, family, and neighbors to watch the video with you at an Economic Recovery House Meeting. Join thousands of people across the country by hosting or attending an Economic Recovery House Meeting this weekend.

The stakes are too high to allow partisan politics to get in the way. That's why I've consulted with Republicans as well as Democrats to put together a plan that will address the crisis we face. I've also taken steps to ensure an unprecedented level of transparency and accountability. Once it's passed, you will be able to see how every penny in this plan is being spent. You can help restore confidence in our economy by making sure your friends, family, and neighbors understand how the recovery plan will impact your community.

Sign up to host or attend an Economic Recovery House Meeting and submit your question for the video now: http://my.barackobama.com/recovery

Our ability to come together as a nation in difficult times has never been more important. I know I can rely on your spirit and resolve as we lead our country to recovery.

Thank you,

President Barack Obama

P.S.—If you can't host or attend an Economic Recovery House Meeting, you can still submit your questions for Governor Kaine and then share the video with your friends and family this weekend. Learn more here: http://my.barackobama.com/recovery

Dear President Obama

I have been trying to refinance since i took out a loan and was promised i could first three months then 6 then 12 it is over two years, and when your stimulus plan became available i tried to do loan reduction and loan modification and was promised my payments would be a total of approx 700 dollars,I sent all information and analysis was done and approved and an atty they gave to me a Christer Goebel and nothing has been responded instead my credit cards were maxed out and money taken out of my account directly from through the bank when I had not wanted to do it because of the terms that they explained after filling out and completing the information and providing all my personal information. But there was not a bilateral contract. They were going to take out 257.41 out of my checking each month instead of my credit card payment of 160.00 plus they were trying to take out electronic tranfer fees 69.00 adm fees each month an no interest but if you figured it out it would be three times my card and the clincher was this hey they would keep the money and not get the atty involved until i was bankruptcy file or garnished that is just absurd. I am a 62 yr old female single and struggling to keep my house please help me please. Diann C. Camper

MY MORTGAGE COMPANY IS CITI fINANCE /CITI MORTGAGE, WHO RECIEVED TAX PAYER BAIL OUT MONEY. I HAVE AN EXCELLENT PAYMENT RECORD. I ONLY ASK TO REFINANCE FOR A LOWER RATE, AND I WAS TOLD THEY WERE FILL WITH APPLICATIONS, SO I WAS REFERRED TO AMERISAVE. I FILLED NEW APPLICATION, PAID $35.00 , WAS TOLD MY NEW RATE DID NOT EVEN DROP 1/2 PERCENT, AND IT WOULD COST ME AN EXTRA $10,000 TO GET THE LOAN. ALL I WANT IS A DECENT INTEREST RATE SO I CAN KEEP MY HOME SO I WILL NOT GET INTO TROUBLE. IS THIS STIMULUS PACKAGE JUSTICE? I DON'T THINK SO. AFTER THE BANKS RECIEVE THE STIMULUS TAX PAYER MONEY, THEY SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO ACCEPT HOME OWNERS REFINANCING PACKAGE FOR A LOWER RATE WITHOUT CHARGE. THIS IS ONE WAY THE WORKING FAMILY CAN GET HELP, SINCE ALL OF THE BIG MONEY IS GOING TO THE BUSINESSES THAT PUT US IN THIS SITUATION IN THE FIRST PLACE. MY RATE IS FIX , BUT I HAVE BEEN A VICTIMIZED BY THE VARYING RATES.

Where is my promised tax cut? why in the world did you let the republicians dictate tax breaks for the wealthy and you didn't deliver as promised on eliminating my tax as a senior problem. I voted democrat in November, not republician.
