WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) — A New York jury has ended the day with no verdict after deliberating for about 45 minutes in Kerry Kennedy's drugged-driving trial.
In closing arguments earlier in the day, the prosecution disputed her claim that she didn't know she was impaired after accidentally taking a sleeping pill.
Prosecutor Doreen Lloyd insisted during closing arguments Thursday that Kennedy must have felt drowsy or dizzy before a 2012 accident.
Kennedy claims she took the pill thinking it was her thyroid medication.
Defense attorney Gerald Lefcourt said Kennedy is not seeking an advantage because of her family.
She is the ex-wife of New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, the daughter of Robert F. Kennedy and the niece of the late President John F. Kennedy.
