WESTMINSTER, Calif. (AP) — A detective says a witness reported seeing two women kick Annie Pham in the head during a lethal scuffle last month outside an Orange County nightclub.
The Santa Ana investigator took the stand Monday during a hearing to determine if Vanesa Zavala and Candace Brito should stand trial. They've pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder.
Detective Matthew Mcleod (Mik-LOWD') says a man reported watching two women crouching and fighting outside The Crosby nightclub in Santa Ana when a woman approached and kicked Pham in the face, then a fourth woman kicked her in the left temple. The man said Pham went limp and collapsed.
The 23-year-old was later removed from life support. A pathologist testified Monday that Pham had bleeding in her brain.
