EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio (AP) — The soul-searching has begun in and around Cleveland again as details emerge of the latest missing-women case.
A registered sex offender was charged Monday in the slaying of three women whose bodies were discovered in plastic trash bags in a run-down East Cleveland neighborhood.
It is the third case in four years of multiple killings or abductions to haunt the community.
Civic leaders in the down-on-its-luck Cleveland area say the explanation lies partly in the disintegration of neighborhoods and people's connections to one another.
The Cleveland area lost more jobs than any other big urban center in the U.S. in the past year.
