WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama has called the five members of the U.S. women's gymnastics team to congratulate them on their gold medal in the Olympics.

Obama made the call from Air Force One as he traveled from Washington to Ohio for campaign events. White House spokesman Jay Carney says the president was "quite impressed" with the team's performance.

The U.S. won gold in the women's team competition Tuesday night.
