WASHINGTON (AP) — The FBI's former top cyber cop says he's taken a job with a startup company to help protect private-sector computer networks.
Shawn Henry says his job at the California-based CrowdStrike will give him the opportunity to do something the federal government is not currently able to do — detect intrusions into company networks that could potentially expose confidential and proprietary information to the wrong people.
Congress is considering several proposals to enhance the security of cyber networks. One under consideration is intended to ensure that computer systems running power plants and other essential parts of the country's infrastructure are protected from hackers, terrorists or other criminals. Lawmakers are expected to begin debating the bills in the coming weeks.
