MODESTO, Calif. (AP) — Officials have released the name of sheriff's deputy who was one of two people killed while trying to serve an eviction notice at a Central California apartment complex Thursday.

Stanislaus County sheriff's officials say Deputy Robert Paris was killed when gunfire broke out around 11 a.m. The 53-year-old Paris was a 16-year veteran of the department.

Officials say he is survived by his parents, a brother and two adult children.

The name of the second person killed in the shooting has not yet been released.

Meanwhile, the standoff continues with SWAT teams still surrounding the complex.
