KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A finding that a Tennessee judge was high on prescription pills during the last two years of his career is calling into question convictions in many of the criminal cases he handled.

The outcome could overwhelm the court system in Knox County, Tennessee's third-largest county with cases that must be retried because the judge was high.

An investigative file on former Knox County Judge Richard Baumgartner says he bought pills during courtroom breaks and traded pills for sex in his chambers. Another judge has already overturned several convictions based on the investigation, ordering new trials in one of the city's most notorious killings.

Prosecutors say Baumgartner presided over more than 1,000, cases his last two years on the bench.

He pleaded guilty to one count of official misconduct last year.

What a pathetic, half news story! There are 2 families out here having to go thru 4 trials AGAIN!

They have to hear how a young woman and her boyfriend were carjacked, abducted, tortured in ways you cannot imagine for HOURS!! Finally Christopher, bound, raped, beaten, tortured, was dragged to the RR tracks, shot and set on fire!!!

Meanwhile his precious Channon was continuing to be tortured, raped, sodomized, chemicals poured over her, wrapped in bedding, placed in a plastic bag, crammed into a trash can, STILL ALIVE!!!! I have painted you a "pretty" picture, the real picture you could not bare! You are all fixated on Fla and the horrible shooting death of a 17 year old by an idiot. BUT WHERE ARE THOSE WHO RUSHED DOWN TO SUPPORT THE BOYS FAMILY, CREATE MARCHES, ETC? IS IT BECAUSE CHRIS AND CHANNON WERE WHITE AND THE 4 MONSTERS THAT HAVE NOT AN OUNCE OF HUMANITY ARE BLACK?????? YOU WON'T ANSWER THAT QUESTION BECAUSE IT IS NOT POLITICALLY CORRECT AND YOU WOULD BE ACCUSED OF RACISM BY PAINTING BLACKS AS "BAD"! NOW BECAUSE OF THIS JUDGE'S ADDICTION, THESE 2 FAMILIES WILL HAVE TO ENDURE THE PAIN OF WHAT HAPPENED TO THEIR SON, THEIR DAUGHTER ALL OVER AGAIN!

AND YOU ALL DON'T EVEN BOTHER COVERING THE REAL STORY! SO WHAT IS NEW!! NOTHING!!!
