BILLIONS AND BILLIONS FOR GOVERNMENT PROGRAMS, AND RESEARCH, AND IMPACT STUDIES. New government jobs that we pay for years for someone to sit and figure up how much the real working people in america owe in taxes to pay for their salaries, early retirement and pension plans. I think if a voted in representative is really looking out for the people we will keep them in there. They should not get a dime in benefits until 25 years of service are put in. Only in america someone spent millions of dollars for a $80,000 a year job. HOW DID BAILOUT MONEY GET PROMISED FOR ANALOG TV DECODERS, AND $165 MILLION IN AIG BONUSES. IF YOU WANT A DIGITAL COLOR TV GET YOU ONE BUT LEAVE THE REST OF US OUT OF IT!! AND QUIT DOING STUDIES ON HOW DUMB OUR KIDS ARE AND PUT LESS KIDS IN A CLASSROOM!! LETS MAKE CONGRESS PAY FOR THEIR OWN TRIPS AND FINE THEM FOR MISSED WORK LIKE THE (NFL, NBA, NHL, ETC.)MAYBE THEY'LL STAY AROUND AND DO THEIR JOBS. YOU DON'T WORK, WE DON'T PAY

With all the talk of stimulus. this is a democracy, we're not too dumb. if the crisis ultimately affects the people, why not give the money to the people?

What would happen, if we GAVE the money to the people who actually OWN it? Seriously.

What would you do wiht 25.000 in your pocket come june?

This unbelievable basket of programs is appalling. There is no way there can be oversight on this range of programs. The govenment was not even capable of providing restrictions and oversight on last year's bank bailout.

There may be many worthwhile programs involved, but they do not belong in a stimulas plan and unfortunately most of this money will just be fettered away by groups of already employed people gathering around a table and talking about it.

Let's get back to the infrastructure and green energy, training and educating people for jobs that already exsist that are going wanting like nursing, nurse practioners for rural areas, engineering, math and science teachers etc.

Too much of what is listed here sounds like we are going back to the welfare system. Educate and train and let people take care of themselves. Save the welfare for people who REALLY need it, disabled, elderly, not able-bodied people who have made poor choices.

The Democrats are using the scare tactic of “we need to act quickly” to get this bill passed. Last time I checked this is supposed to be a bill to stimulate the economy. Someone tell me how ANY of this is going to get the economy going again! This whole bill is just a vehicle for every Democrat to load their personal programs onto. By the way, has anyone seen Obama’s birth certificate?? Oh wait, they probably don’t issue those in Kenya…

I can't wait to see how many $500 toilet seats go in to every public works project... The problem with these bailouts is that they are not monitored. As taxpayers this is our money as well and to allow it to be spent recovering failing banks and car manufacturers makes me ill. A CEO's company loses $23million but he still collects a $16million bonus ( See GM ). Or that a Bank chooses to only give bonuses that were half of last years.. $600k instead of $1.25million. How genereous we taxpayers are.

Now this...

$6 billion to extend broadband access so more people can participate in the global economy? Yikes! Additionally, there is a buy America act written into this bailout. No doubt spurred on by, yep, you guessed it, a UNION... That should help this be an economical investment because we all know companies with Unions produce the highest quality, lowest cost products ( See GM. $73/hr for car production compared to $35/hr for a homeland based import manufacturer.

We are enabling big industry to continue down the same paths with no thought to ingenuity, quality, performance and cost. Our country needs healthy competition in all areas to keep industry and people in general honest. Without it, and with these bailouts we are rapidly becoming a Socialist nation. For too long our government has allowed outdated industries to resist technological improvements ( fear of capital investment ) only to have them all coming begging to congress every few years to help them out because somebody else can do it more efficiently and econmomically...

The American people need CASH BACK to spend in the businesses

that are laying off employees. This will also increase tax revenue for the states, counties and cities.

WE need BIG TAX CUTS in payroll taxes to allow people to spend in 2009

We need MUCH HIGHER unemployment payments to keep these people

from defaulting on their mortages and to pay insurance and eat.

Freeze all defaults by any lender using money from the government.

Require the banks to make loans to the people with adverage credit scores if they are takihg government money.

This bill has a lot of good spending ideas and like others have said some areas need much more than in this bill.I do not have enough information to know how much of it is pork barrell spending and how much will aid small& big business and the

people that need it.

not only does the stimulus add huge numbers to our existing debt, but it adds to our government as well. expanded programs as part of the stimulus equate to additional government, some of it in perpetuity. and how about the accountability part of the package? how many millions of dollars will be spent just to make sure all the money is accounted for? and with a good bit of it going to existing government programs, will we now have government programs monitoring government programs? how does that work anyway?

scary. we are officially headed towards socialism.

Thank God for the Stimulus package. I`ve gone through 2 extensions--thank god I`ll get a 3rd. So many of us in this country who want to work---can`t find a job--not for lack of trying.

The Republicans Stimulus package would have not extended benefits.

Our Economy has been destroyed by the previous administration. I`m sure Mr. Bush will not go without food or a roof over his head, neither will any member of his family or the families of his cronies.
