America satisfied its need for speed Sunday.
Ryan Hunter-Reay used a series of daredevil moves in a thrilling final lap to become the first Yank since 2006 to win the Indy 500. "I'm a proud American boy, that's for sure," he said in Victory Lane.
Later in the day, Kurt Busch was attempting a rare double — after finishing sixth at Indy, he helicoptered to North Carolina to drive in NASCAR's Coca-Cola 600. Only one other driver, Tony Stewart, has completed both races in the same day.
Here's a collection of images from the track.
