Muamba making 'strong, steady' progress

April 6, 2012 RSS Feed Print

LONDON (AP) — Bolton says Fabrice Muamba is making "strong and steady improvements" while recovering from his on-field cardiac arrest during an FA Cup quarterfinal last month.

The former England Under-21 midfielder has been in London Chest Hospital since collapsing on March 17. His heart stopped beating on its own for 78 minutes while doctors worked to resuscitate him.

A joint statement from Bolton and the hospital gave the positive prognosis Friday, adding that he "remains in the intensive care unit."

Muamba, who has started walking and eating again, turned 24 on Friday.
