PITTSBURGH (AP) — St. Louis coach Rick Majerus was hospitalized for precautionary reasons on Saturday, missing the Billikens' 75-60 win over Duquesne in the Atlantic 10 tournament.
The school said the 64-year-old Majerus took the wrong medication after his routine morning swim. Majerus, who has a history of heart surgeries dating back to 1989, had a stent inserted last summer.
Majerus traveled to the Palumbo Center with the team about 90 minutes before the game, but doctors encouraged him to check into a hospital for evaluation.
Assistant Chris Harriman took over the coaching duties for the Billikens (24-6, 12-4). Harriman said he spoke to Majerus after the game and he was "doing fine."
Majerus was expected to travel home with the team later Saturday.
