A lot goes into determining the well-being of a society--everything from how much the average citizen earns to what housing conditions are like to how much time people spend at work.
In its Better Life Index, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, took a look at 11 factors that influence how a society functions. U.S. News honed in on the life satisfaction metric to find out which countries were the unhappiest of those the OECD tracks.
