Former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer, a Democrat, resigned in 2008 in the wake of a prostitution scandal. Reports estimate that Spitzer spent up to $80,000 on high-priced prostitutes while serving as New York's attorney general and governor. One of the women he paid to have sex with was identified as Ashley Dupre, who subsequently gave interviews discussing her involvement with the governor. His actions were discovered as the result of a federal wire-tap initiated by suspicious bank activity. He is still married to his wife, Silda.
