Death Toll Estimate: Roughly 900

An Egyptian commission reported 846 deaths between January 25, when protests first escalated, and February 11, when former President Hosni Mubarak left power. According to the same report, about 6,400 people were injured through acts of government violence, such as police vehicles intentionally running over citizens. Last month, human rights groups reported that nearly 30 Coptic Christian protesters were killed in riots, suggesting that the death toll could continue to rise as Egypt works to stabilize its society.
