Death Toll Estimate: About 250
Though the actual death toll could be much higher, in early October Human Rights Watch confirmed 225 deaths this year from attacks by government forces, led by President Ali Abdullah Saleh. Since then, protests have led to the killings of dozens more. The government has announced a cease-fire; however, the government has reportedly failed to keep its word. The international community continues to put pressure on Saleh for his regime’s human rights violations.
