This can be a mystical event in your life. Consider that people will be living past their 70's; taking one month out of your life to clarify what your purpose is in living it for the next 50+ years-I'd say, it would be a bargain that you cannot pass up.
I orginally learned about this pilgrimage in 1997 and finally went to Spain in 2001. Although I met very few Americans during my walk in high season, I met many Spanish, French and Italian pilgrims who helped me along the way. While walking on the pilgrimage trail (El Camino) to Santiago de Compostela in 2001 I was prompted by inner guidance to change my career. I am returning in 2010 with companions, which is a major change in the way that I have traveled for all of my adult life.
My journey has inspired me to lecture at colleges, libraries, non profit organizations and national conferences about my experiences on The Camino to Santiago de Compostela. My website is wwww.toawakenothers.com. Anna M. Larotonda, Ed.M.

There are only a few Americans on the Camino, which is too bad. It is an extraordinary experience that touches one at all levels of human life. There are many accounts of the pilgrimage experience in print; read one or two and see if they don't inspire you to consider walking the Camino (or some part of it) yourself. My own is among them: To The Field of Stars: A Pilgrim's Journey to Santiago de Compostela, Kevin A. Codd, Wm. B. Eerdmans & Co., 2008.
