To put a stop to this issue regarding abortion all they need to do is exclude it from any part of the new healthcare alignment policies. Take it out and leave it out. End of story.

If the pro-abortion politicians would pass a Stupak or Hatch style amendment to prohibit federal funding of abortion, then a majority of Americans could support it. The deception of passing a Capp amendment that will certainly require federal funding of abortion is immoral. Pro-abortion politicians should know by now that the Hyde amendment does not apply to HR 3200. To think that you can mix federal and private funds in a pot and say we are only using the private money to pay for these procedures is ridiculous! If you beleive unborn babies are people too? Demand a Hatch amendment!
Even if we get a good amendment, could the president line item veto it, to satisfy his pro-abortion interests?

I agree with ComPassion, Truth is what we are standing for, and the truth is that each life, which DOES begin at conception, deserves (and has the inherent right) to be born!
How can we argue about other "rights" when the pre-established right to live is not respected, defended or upheld?
Now, briefly to Sharon:
Sharon, many forms of artificial birth control are also known as abortificients. This means that they will preemptively cause an abortion were the woman to get pregnant. Biologically speaking, if you are taking things like "the morning after pill" and your egg was fertilized by sperm and therefore has become a human life, that person will not be able to implant into your uterine wall and develop into the child they are meant to be, but will instead be removed from your body by the process of this drug.
Therefore, not all birth control is the same as abortion, no. However, some is, and that is part of the reason why it is not allowed in a Catholic perspective. However, there is so much more to why birth control is not supported. I cannot begin to explain, but these links are worth looking at for answers if you truly want to know more: http://www.usccb.org/laity/marriage/MarriedLove.pdf
There are many more but I won't link them now. Please don't hesitate to seek the truth! And no, the Church has never and will never condemn people to hell. The Church absolutely believe that sin exists, and that we can sin mortally, and that these sins, if unrepented and not forgiven can lead to an eternal separation between us and God, which would most likely mean we would live in hell, for that is it's definition (separation and isolation from God himself, who is our very life). But to say "all women who use birth control are going to hell" is both unmerciful and ignorant to who Christ was. He offered mercy. He forgives sins. He does not want anyone to live outside of his love. That is why knowing the truth leads us to freedom - because as he created us to be is how we will be most happy and most fulfilled. This is also why ComPassion is right that "truth sets us free," because "freedom" does not imply a "choice," but rather the capacity to be fulfilled. We have that integral capacity to be filled, and God is always that fulfillment.

We stand firm for Love and dignity of life from conception to natural death.
Health care is care for all human life.
Abortion is not health care. Abortion stops a human life.
It's simple for them to correct the bill. They only need to write that abortion will not be supported or funded in any way by this bill in the bill.
The slaughter of 3200 babies a day and 1.2 Million a year is wrong.
Love Life.

The Truth will set us Free.

Dr. Bob,
Thank you for your distorted take on the history of the Church's teaching on abortion. A real bang-up job. Perhaps one should consult, I don't know - THE CHURCH - for the true history of the teaching, which by the way has very little to do with when ensoulment occurs. The Church's teaching is based on the SCIENTIFIC fact that life begins at conception. See http://www.usccb.org/prolife/constantchurchteaching.shtml for further information.
