DALLAS (AP) — The Bush and Clinton families have dominated American politics for the past three decades, taking turns in a string of positions of power and influence.
The dedication of President George W. Bush's presidential library on Thursday is shining a spotlight on the nation's most prominent political dynasties — and the potential for another White House campaign, in 2016, featuring the two families.
Aides say the families have grown to admire each other, helped by a friendship between former Presidents George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton and the shared understanding of the weight of the White House.
President Barack Obama, who broke a 20-year string of either a Bush or Clinton in the Oval Office, will join four ex-presidents at the event at Southern Methodist University.
