WASHINGTON (AP) — November's presidential election offers Americans one of the starkest choices in years.

Both President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney can agree on that point.

Shades of gray don't exist. A yawning issues gulf separates the two candidates.

And these differences were sharpened with Romney's selection of Wisconsin Republican Rep. Paul Ryan as his running mate. Putting the seven-term congressman on his ticket was cheered by the GOP's conservative base.

Those differences will be on display over the next two weeks as Romney, then Obama host their national party conventions.
