NM Gov. criticizes Romney stance on immigration

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez, a Republican often mentioned as a potential vice presidential candidate but who repeatedly has denied interest, has criticized fellow Republican Mitt Romney's stance on immigration.

Martinez questioned the likely GOP presidential nominee's "self-deportation" strategy during an interview with Newsweek.

The magazine quotes the governor as asking for the meaning of self-deportation. She also says she doesn't doubt that Hispanics were alienated during the campaign for the GOP nomination.

Martinez suggested that Romney remind voters that President Barack Obama failed to deliver promised comprehensive immigration reform.

This wasn't the first time Martinez has criticized GOP rhetoric on immigration. In a January interview with The Associated Press, she urged candidates to tone it down and engage with voters instead.

Martinez couldn't be reached Tuesday by the AP.

I read a readers coment on your acitions Gov. Martinez. I couldn'r agree with him more.

You recently tried & failed to have the ability to not issue a driver license to illegals and you failed

Why? That would have been the best thing that the four states that border Mexico could do to stop this onsloght of illegals who like Vincent Lawrence said are not all Mexican these people are from every corner of the globe.

Until you people can start putting your personal opinions aside and start working for the American people, this problem will only infect our Nation more & more. You are in a very good position today to help the people of New Mexico and the rest of our Country. So please start working together for the common cause and quite the bickering.

Governor Martinez

Immigration is a broad area.

Not all illegal's are from Mexico, more than 60 % are

called OTM Other than Mexican, one month in the past

at the Florance, Arizona Federal Center, 1501 confined

687 Mexican , the balance from 87 different nations,

including North Korea, Iran, Russia, China, in other words they were from all over the world.

Many with numerous identifications, others with none.

You would need some darn good cowboys on good cutting horses to separate everything that crosses the border.

Perhaps you should give Mr. Romney a little credit as to not promise, what he can not deliver, and neither can You. Have a cigar, it helps keep the mouth closed.
